This store was a legend for me, a kid raised in Queens in the 90's who never stepped foot or even seen a Food Emporium until his 20's, because of these radio jingle ads. Food Emporium sounded like the greatest gourmet market ever. They say never to meet your heroes, because alas, Food Emporium in reality is just another crappy overpriced Manhattan supermarket like Gristedes or Morton Williams.

Same exact story. Born and raised in Maspeth. Ended up in the Great Neck Food Emporium at age 13-14. Thought it was going to be an amazing wonderland of sorts. Oh was I wrong.

If you lived in the NYC area especially Manhattan ritzy neighborhoods (Upper East or West sides) of Manhattan. Food Emporium was the epitome of first class Grocery Shopping.

One of the best ad jingles for a grocery store that I've ever heard. The Food Emporium advertised heavy on cable super station WOR TV, and this jingle was heard all over the nation via that station.
