The Football Player Who Eats Bugs for Dinner

Jabar Westerman of the Montreal Alouettes used to be a vegan, but he found it difficult to get all of the protein that he needed in one meal. So instead of turning to traditional meat or chicken, he began eating caterpillars. With more protein per 100g consumed, he has found the bugs to be the perfect substitute. We caught up with Jabar as he prepared a meal for a skeptical teammate and showed us how his diet prepares him for the field.

I lived in Thailand for 15 months not long ago. I had many opportunities to buy bugs to eat from the many bug stalls. The thing I realized though is that Thai people would much rather eat pizza and KFC instead of bugs. Bugs are poor people food. If you have money, you eat pizza and KFC. If eatings bugs help this guy feel less bloated, that is great. There have been times when I go to the taqueria and I would rather have one taco with the chips and salsa than order a whole burrito with the soda and chips and salsa so I do not feel all full and bloated, so I do understand.
