Listened to an excellent podcast about shooting for coverage; a large reason blockbusters look and feel awful now is because the suits are shooting exactly like you said. We need wide shots that can be changed at any moment, that can things inserted in the background, that can be edited out in post. It’s the absolute antithesis of cinematography and direction. It’s sloppy, and infinitely more expensive. But not because they’re paying VFX artists well, don’t get it twisted lmao
