I have over 100,000 miles on my 2018 3.5 ecoboost. Transmission is still going strong. I change all the fluids in my truck religiously. I’m hoping I never run into these issues. Best of luck to you man.

who gets a chysler of and kind any way. i would recommend any one who even thinks of buying any chysler product to go to the nearest social security office around 4pm in Memphis on a Saturday because that's how much time you will never get back once you steal in for that money of a ride. I'm sure the quality got better since the advancement of technology but still stay far far away. Quality control is about as good as Dodge is with anti theft

Is there some preventative maintenance that could be done to reduce the chance of this? For example an upgraded head gasket?
@KarzKreated
@KarzKreated Жыл бұрын
Idk honestly. From my understanding, changing the head bolts to head studs is a huge upgrade to prevent the head from lifting under boost. The issue with the grooves can only be fixed by replacing the block with an updated one, or having them filled in by a machine shop. No gasket will stop that issue unless the root problem is fixed.

@@KarzKreated There s no replacement for displacement. A V4 with a turbo will never replace a v6 or v8. Forced induction engines by nature have a far shorter life not to mention expensive replacement costs for turbo/superchargers

Bud...I love ya, but don't kid yourself. Do you know how many GT's I've seen need engines and transmissions with low mileage? It's part of the game. This isn't exclusive to mustangs either. I know of 2 kias 2 corvettes and 5 supras that needed engines and transmissions before 40k miles. That's why when someone asks my opinion on mods, I always recommend wheels and tires and tint until you pay it off and not when the warranty expires.

Head bolts stretched, that's why high performance turbo engines should use head studs. It's a known issue on this engine.

I wouldn't even go there with those kinds of expenses for a complete rebuild. Just try to wait it out just long enough to go ahead and contact an attorney that handles lawsuits against the automotive industry. If there isn't an attorney close by in your state, branch out with your search into 2-3 neighboring states so as to seek consultation and looking into if there are multiple if many, many complaints just like yours with that particular year, model, and fully build sheet that proves how it came equipt! Look form you build and add-on's that a data lable that may be in your trunk or glovebox or even on the door and make sure that you have photo's taken! Also, should you have a speed shop and or a machine shop local, ask it's owner if he or she could take time to drop by you garage and vie the carnage and be able to do a write up of/for the total damages parts and repair time as a matter of an estimate, but you'll have to pay the shop owner well for his time! Oh say 3 hours worth at about 450 bucks lets just say! But honestly you shouldn't have taken it apart!! But then if the Ford Dealer took it all apart, just play possum and go back to the dealer and ask them to also do a complete repair estimate for you because...wait for it, "You need to have all the figures so that you can approach a credit union"; so to say!! Once both of these estimates are all put together take and shuffle it off to the attorney's office!! Here's the kicker....Make ABSOLUTELY sure that you have a full statement from the machinist's that spells out: "What the HIGHEST probable reason that your engine had chit the bed", OKAY!! Now if you already have a detailed explanation from the Dealer said that took that engine's life that's one thing and that you have an exact copy of the tear down inspection in full detail, that is a plus! Still, you need something from a highly experienced machinist to do the same, but pay the guy because you would be asking him to put in some time to help you get straightened out! I hope that this helps!

Yea either their lyin or you ( dont know u so wont make that call). My credentials...im a ASE master technician with 17 years of experience. The whole reason that Chevrolet and Ford went in together to design and build that ten speed transmission was to reduce the costs at the consumer and for the company for the R&D. That's how come the rival's Ford and Chevy both got together in the first place to provide the exact opposite of what you have stated.The 10 speed used i or pretty much any body could get those ten Speed transmissions ,used for under $2000. And you can get a brand new in a crate with warranty for under $4000 depending on where you go. Plus labor is flat rate so they can only charge you 10 hours labor. If They're just slow they're just slow at putting it in then that's on them. Dealers are expected to take less time than a independent shop. This isnt just a suggestion either its the law, so like i said either this is a bullshit claim or their breaking the law.

Exactly why I refuse to buy a car with forced induction of any kind. The engine is going to live a hard life and burn out quick, regardless of brand. It's just a matter of physics. Then you add potential design flaws to the mix and the risks far outweigh any benefits.

The crazy part is, I've known 2 people now( yea not a lot of people, but still that's like 50% of the people I know that have a ford) that had low mileage fords that had problems and the ford mechanics basically said the engines were unfixable and either warrantied whole new engines or just totaled out the vehicle and gave them new cars. Luckily they were under warranty, but damn how bad are these new ford engine designs?

The turbo you have cannot support 500whp you would need an nx2
@KarzKreated
@KarzKreated Жыл бұрын
Sure it can. Hpp turbo has a larger compressor wheel than a nx2. The nx2 has a 52mm compressor wheel, and the HPP turbo has a 63mm. The nx2 does have a slightly larger turbine wheel though at 52mm vs the HPP's 50mm. The HPP turbo can push 30 plus pounds of boost with ease. With that said, the nx2 may be more efficient, but that's it.

@@KarzKreated Thank you. My honest opinion is that post Covid vehicle build quality is dubious, regardless of _who_ (in the big 3) built it. Have installed a 5.7 Hemi OEM reman that went 1200 miles before blowing a head gasket, and a 3V 6.8 V10 Triton OEM reman that dropped a valve, and utterly shit it's guts in 400 miles, and 2 GM 6L90's that ate themselves in under 1000 miles, despite replacing coolers, lines (no flushing, NEW ) etc, I've been at it 32 years, an a senior master tech tech with ASE master certs including L1 and L2. So don't want to bust someones bubble, but Ford is not what it used to be, but then again it hasn't changed at all, had a 1965,66,67, Mustang all has several issues, from the frame twisting to an overall unbalanced car making them not very safe under certain weather conditions. I had Mach 1, Shelby, and others, since I'm older now I just drive an Ecoboost, to save some money! I hope. It has a little over 70k and so far so good, but it is stock no mods and I drive like an old man. But I hear you is it somewhat disturbing to see these corporations, disregard true proven safety features so that they can save a buck or two. The other day I went to check my spare just to make sure it was in good shape, never had to use it, and what I found was shocking, some kind of device with a gauge and a hose sticking out of it. Well I threw it away and put a spare in there, now I can sleep better at night. Take care and I'm following your videos, keep them coming.

Sad i loved the old 2.3 turbos and i always wanted to build the newer motor to put in old fox or merakur xr4ti that once had. basically rear wheel drive escort of late 80s early 90s rare today to find if i only new how rare lot cars own back then i wanted to build it like the cosworth serria that dominated the time and build another turbo fox also with it .but if ur planning on making any sort of power just get built block so the reliability factor is all ready there even if u do no other mods and up boost maybe value springs for safety issues the thing should last long time if had freinds that done this to other motors and didn't touch nothing else but springs better intercooler, changed turbo wheels and had well over 100.000 miles of abuse and till i no car still runs great he also was very care of service ive learned as ive gotten older if u plan on making and power other then stock just upgrade bottom end and u will save in the long run because then u dont have to rip entire engine out to do anymore supporting mods and can do one upgrade at time from there on if that how ur buget allows.

Seems like a really bad time to be a ford fan boy. I don't think they make anything that is designed to last more than 5 years anymore. From having rubber belts inside the crankcase ( which is just plain stupid ) on many of their eco engines to the timing chain problems that haven't gotten any better since introduced in what 2004? and the never ending auto combustion of pretty much any wiring system and the dreaded 6 speed issues proving they can't even get a manual transmission right my last hold out was the diesel market but even a quick browse around the internet will show they have even found a way to screw their customers over in that market. Now with the court cases piling up faster than charges against Trump it appears that the blue oval is going to overtake dodge on the way to bankruptcy, which is something I never thought I would see with all the grandfathered in government sales that ford has enjoyed for the last half century. Makes me think Putin is in charge of ford these days. Lol
