As I've said to another KZbinr, and was told off by him and his commenters, the game is not about running in, being all Master Chief, and running out. You watch the fighting from a distance, and scavenge the bodies after.

Haven't logged back in yet to witness all of this first hand, but have they changed the quests to be more item-based? I REALLY love the combat voyeurism aspect of this, but it would seem like we'd be punished for even attempting to complete quests that say "kill this really tough unit" when you hardly even start out or have any water.

The biggest change I saw last night was that the AI will pick a random player and not stop sending waves of enemies after them. I was in mech trenches and the random exo that walks around started rushing me. My friend in the other hand was able to walk right up and not get aggro even after picking everyone off and blowing up the exo for me. I like the damage changes but it’s very jarring to be a “sneaky” person and have the ai pathing to you non stop trying to start a fight.

I really think the hunter killers mechanic should be a bit reworked. Like, tf? I've read they're supposed to come when the player loots something valuable, and, reasonably, the factions will want to have it themselves. But how do they know it? It's a bit meh... I think it should go like: -player loots something valuable; -warning on screen like: be careful, what you looted is valuable. If they see you, they might want it (example); -then, if the player is spotted from any of the factions, only *then* the hunter killer squads will be sent. I think it's a bit more logical and less immersion-breaking.

The thing is that some high value items are practically gps beaconed. They don't want what you have, they want what you just took from them back and can tell where you are by tracking their own assets in your pack.

@@Unai626 This is a fair point. "Some" for me is the key word. So it should be that for some items, the HK squads get sent immediatly; while for other items, you have to be spotted first. Though it sounds a bit "cumbersome". Let's see how (and if) the devs deal with this.

@ilsignorsaruman2636 I think it's a little buggy at the moment but I suspect the intent is for certain high value resources to always trigger HKs. I see your point when it comes to the HKs knowing where you are when they're triggered by lots of looting or murder though, that's a tad silly. They for sure shouldn't be quite as omniscient as they are now without explanation.

Maybe have the big lockbox be an "always HKs" scenario? After all, you usually get those from either bosses or those unlockable bunkers. Maybe certain high power guns (Miniguns, Anti-Material Rifles) have the "summons HKs if detected/spotted by x faction tag?)

Yet the quest objectives are still "Kill x of these" or "Murder a boss".... they really need to pick a style somewhere in between. When all of the loot worth stashing is guns, yet you're not allowed to use guns without likely dying... it makes no sense. I hope when crafting comes out more stuff will have a use, but as it stands if you loot too much/quick even without shooting anything, hunter killers come until you die or extract.

Some are. Aloy of those missions is just they want components, which you can get if you wait long enough. But I will concide by saying that it is abit conflicting with the specific missions that call for assassations

AI is still unpredictable. Agitated or stranded bots can easily corner you and run over you, especially on smaller indoor maps. And you can easily find yourself in the middle of a crossfire, because some group bots spawned from thin air right in the middle of other faction controlled area. And still no stealth mechanics. You can't really tell if bots ignore you because you have low "threat", or they actually don't see you (we all know they just pretend they don't).

Enemy behavior changed a scary amount after this patch. My first run after it went live was supposed to be one of my routine gatcha box farms, but I shot at a single drone that was in the way and it called in a medium mech for backup...

to be fair, at least there are moire gacha boxes now. Currently Scorched Earth is full of them for me, i find at least 1 every run, since they spawn now in the open field.

I said it in a previous video: I was getting too cocky. My high score was 89 (inc. 3 exos) and I run Shaman solo, only stopped because I'd ran out of ammo and had already scavenged the viable spots dry. Haven't played much on this patch but I look forward to it again. I love that it doesn't just feel like a Halo lobby any more, lol.

Hoping they add various graffiti/murals in the innards that rotates between missions with little easter eggs. Like maybe after they patch out the flying tanks they add a little memorial to them in the form of a mural depicting gravity defying tanks in the background

I think people are losing patience bc they can’t stop playing the game, it’s just that good. To those people I just want to say: take a break. Yeah I like this update. Makes me think even harder about when to fire, when to sneak and when to run. I have to be more sitiationally aware and read the patterns/mob behaviours better. I find I'm looking at mob types more often too. Aggro'ing mobs across the map and pulling them into fights with a pesky patrol works. And, when waiting, always have to think about two places you can run to if spot becomes untenable. Sometimes you aid different patrols to keep the map dynamics balanced. Esp. if you want the conflict "front" to move away so you can loot the bodies. Far less face tanking, so ambush and run. Far less back tanking, so have to think about dog-legging behind cover. I typically play solo. I melee solo cyborgs and usually take a hit from them because it's quieter. Mobs like pyro i sneak up close and unleash auto-shottie or hit him from afar while he's busy. Mid-distance fights are best avoided. Near (melee/auto-shottie) or far (scoped rifle or m40) are best.

That bridge is a rough spot, especially with HKs spawning in... Btw, praying at the shrine 7 times before infill did spawn the rat king for me and chat quite often. Good luck Scav!

I have found better chances of the Rat King spawning on Elephant. There is a long corridor/chasm that medium mechs will sometimes spawn in (to the right of ruins spawn) and walk over to tank battlefield. If the rat king will spawn he will spawn down that chasm. Restart map if he doesn’t spawn. He will show up eventually :) When he does spawn on EM there are plenty of baddies for him to squash so you can get your tissue. Good luck!

12:25 - You mentioned "Oh I have an AA12 I'd love to level up but I can't". Well, I got you covered: 1) Do you want to farm EXP the comfy and slowly way? Head to Scrapyard Nexus and simply activate the Extract icon, and hold the fort for 1 minute. You'll get waves of cyborgs and occasional drones that yield something around 5~10k loot PER RUN. And each mission takes 4 minutes max. The trick is: DO NOT VENTURE deeper into the Nexus to hunt Eurasians, or else this ammount of earned EXP lowers. Don't ask me why... and while you're at it, grab 3 quests from Europa faction related to killing Cyborgs (Cull the Herd, Summon the Pain 1, etc) to guarantee some extra 2k EXP alongside buckets of loot. When you try this method first, do 2 or 3 rounds along with a Skirmisher NPC Old Man with a RPK so he'll watch your 6. Just make sure to position him right at the base of the elevator platform so he won't move (point the mouse and press B) and YOU go on ahead to the crossroads to kill the cyborgs alone and level your weapons. Be wary that weapons such as AA12 are not silent, so having a TAC cam to check for eventual Eurasian Grenadiers coming from the other side of the building is key. They mostly never do, but I've seen it happen once or twice while leveling my .50 cal Rifle or Grenade Launcher. 2) Wanna go loud and farm EXP like John Wick, shooting everything? Right there on Ashen Mesa you have the big carrier (Crawler) vehicle to the north. Bring some 2k rounds of ammunition, head straight to the interior and climb the stairs. Cyborgs will begin to pour like water. THe key is to keep moving from the stair to the back corridor in order for the tileset to activate new spawns from time to time, or else no enemy will appear. The only downside of this is extracting, though, because you still need to run all the way to the exit, whichever region you decide to spawn in. This 2nd option yield more exp per minute, of course, but the risks are high. I personally prefer the first method. Simple. Useful. Peaceful. All my characters are Prestige level 15 by now, and I plan to get them to 25 by the end of the year. Have fun, mate. :)

From what I was able to figure out from my own playthroughs I don't see it as a plain damage increase but it feels like an enemy accuracy increase combined with gun caliber having an impact now. Being shot at by exo minigun just dissolves HP bar. For the future I'd love to see more options for defeatable HKs, that would pose a challenge but would allow experienced geared player to survive, maybe some cool grande launcher wielding bois. Now it is either Machine-gun wielding HKs or a mech or dog that will pounce you. Should there be enemies that always win with you if you are to greedy? Yes, and possibly HKs could arrive in waves. A set of increasingly difficult squads that spawn if you'd manage to defeat their predecessor, arriving to a mech or dog that will wipe you.

Being shot by an exo causes an instant stagger, at least for me. I’m not sure if that was in the game before. Someone died yesterday complaining about stagger, but if you get hit with a 50 cal you’re not just going to stand there and pretend nothing happens.

I've been thinking with the new damage models pushing players into slower paced gameplay loot exp should be given by discovering the items rather than just taking them. That way you're not encouraged to loot vacuum for quicker exp and not punished for being picky about what you take. Might help baby scavs that have limited space to take things as well.

Yeah with the update they made it easier to pick up the guns, but now that the guns have a bigger pickup box, the bags are harder to grab lol. Hopefully they make your loot grab hitbox a lot smaller when you ADS so you can grab what ever you are looking directly at, that would be nice.

Finally dying again :D. While it was fun for a while to load up and hammer through waves of People and Cyborgs, i prefer it the direction it is now again. I do not want to be Master Chief in Post Apocalyptic Warzone. Like someone else wrote: "I got cocky." And it is true. I did too. :D I sometimes said to myself "You greedy old man. Go home." I always played Old Man and switched to Mask Man for a few Prestige Levels. Man, Masked Man draws so much more aggro than the Old man. I love it. What i do not understand though: Why add DLSS+NFG but not FSR+AFG. I use Driver based Frame Gen and all, but i would love some implemented new FSR + Frame Gen. Still a long way to go. But walking in the right direction! Adding upscaling is far from optimizing though. But helps. At this point and moment, i do not expect Optimizing performance a lot. Would be nice, but it would make not much sense now. So i am fine. Just some FSR for everyone with Radeon Cards, Intel Cards and Non RTX 20-40 GPUs. Maybe even add XeSS, since it can look better in some games. But they will know that too. But it is impressive that FW runs like Star Citizen lol. Only played solo in the game for 30h, since none of my friends have an interest in this game/world. Sad. I have a hard time playing with randoms, so thats not an option.

I get that this isn’t halo or CoD, but at the same time if you punish the player TOO hard for aggression than there’s no point in even having a gun. It’s kind of hard to have the cinematic effect if it all boils down to “you pissed off the AI extract or die”.

Well, as always with nerfs/buffs in every game. People who can spend lots of time for playing, are always happy if game becomes more and more hardcore because they are bored by grinding same maps. More casual players who can't play 100+ hours a month will not be happy when gameplay gets nerfed and more difficult. Imagine, you are average adult with family, so usually you can have just few hours a week for playing. You get in map, spend there 30 minutes looting, exploring, making quests etc. Then you want to extract but you realise only way is occupied by camping infantry and after last path you have no chance to survive. If NPC damage is getting buffed in game and player lost any chance to win, there should be always added way to avoid confrontation.

I’ll be honest, while I keep hearing about the average “family man’s” experience with this game, it doesn’t seem to me like this game would attract that kind of crowd. Hell, most guys I see with families who play games are going more for stuff like Helldivers, Lethal Company, and other stuff like that, where the sessions are short and straightforward, more or less. That’s not to say I’m trying to gatekeep the game from the casuals as a whole or whatever, I just struggle to think of many family guys who would load up the “smallest fish in a post-apocalyptic war-hell scape” game for those few hours they have to themselves each week. Though it could also be personal bias on my part,

I really think there should always be a way to avoid the conflict. Joining in and shooting is optional. You're a scavenger, not a soldier. AI should have more patrol routines, and let you have a window of time where they're distracted so that you can slip through. Wasn't this the concept of the game? Should the game "punish" aggression? I damn think so! You're a rat facing unstoppable killing machines. Should it be still viable? if you're good, hell yeah. But the game should also "reward" your stealth and put a bit more focus on it. a little add: i also think the main way to engage small groups should not be through direct fight, but ambushes. Like "yes, you can fight them directly. It's highly dangerous and not recommended, but you can definetely do it. But it's better to spot them, understand their patrol, get behind a rock, and shoot them in their backs". What do you think?

It’s really not that bad, I’m a casual family player, only playing a few hours every couple days and I’ve had no problem maxing water or dealing with AI. Just don’t be getting into fights all the time, and when you do circle around and come back to loot

I also would like to add, that they have serious issue with map design. There is severe lack of alternate routes to extraction. Places like the bridge in this video can became a death trap in an instant simply because game decided to spawn enemies on your way. Similar stuff happens with timed extracts - once died on Scorched because the only exit I had was timed and game spawned enemies on both sides of potential cover, so no mater were I go there is someone shooting me in the back. And there is a lot of them. I like the game, but some of the mechanics are pure BS.

What is it that you are doing when you loot bodies you don’t wait for the loot to appear. Are you somehow picking up the loot before it appears or are you just by habit clicking on the body, and then leaving the loot?

Nope, it was a bug. You can still come in with damaged weapons and repair them, but not destroyed weapons anymore.

It's unfortunate they didn't give us another way to get guns via (say) 5 destroyed guns to fix up 1 good one. Having to hunt Disabled is pretty unfortunate. But I expected this to be coming.

Everything I see or hear from this game just makes it sound worse. The aesthetic is neat but it just seems like just a barebones stealth game where you prepetually collect useless resources and extract from over the top grimdark maps. I get they want to go for like a scavenger vibe, but it seems like this game suffers from not being able to "pick a lane" Its like trying to be 3 games at once and coming up short in all 3 areas. Its not a very good extraction shooter, its not a good rpg shooter Its not a good resource management/base sim game, and its not a good stealth game, so what is it particularly good at other than having a post apocalyptic style? This is the only game I've ever seen thats trying to be multiple things and failing at all of them
