One of Time Team's very best. Not only for the location and the finds, which are spectacular, but for the sheer human excitement of discovery at 33:00 which we'd all share, were we archaeologists. I've never seen so many Time Team folk run like heck to a trench as that! (To say nothing of Carenza hushing everyone so the camera can hear Chris Gaffney's pickaxe at 29:00.)

If I watched this on TV, I'd encounter fewer ads., which is awful because this is a great ep. Oh, and please forgive my fellow countryman, complaining about our upcoming election. No one (here on this list who happened to announce his all Aussie citizenship) seems to recall that in 1968 when there was an election question whether Australian Natives should be accepted as born citizens of this land, their ancestors have cared for more than 58-60,000 years. These are personal problems of the Australian Family and shouldn't be aired online.

@CJM-rg5rt
@CJM-rg5rt 3 ай бұрын
It's really too bad that the Romans didn't leave much detailed info (or at least it seems like they weren't very comprehensive) about the island natives. It's the weirdest thing because they make them sound like wholly uncivilized animals but we know the people who built all the stone monuments thousands of years ago were very advanced. It's hard to believe they'd lie that much, exaggerate sure but they didn't sound at all like we know they were in the neolithic-bronze age. I think they must've had some type of collapse.

When I hear about how the coins have different Roman emperors stamped on them and how that indicates the year they were made, I wonder if there were ancient Roman coin collectors. Were they collecting their equivalent to steel Pennies, mercury dimes and double dies?

How long after the Romans left that people quit using their coins?
@RohenBlackwolf
@RohenBlackwolf Жыл бұрын
I would think that in the cities it would have been used for a bit longer, even thou they were quite reduced after the Romans left, while in the countrysite I'm guessing very soon. Maybe they were made into jewlery or that, but in the villages you would have not that much use for them, far more thou, as you had very few coins to begin with.

@juststeve7665

it's how the show was budgeted from the start. the show was originally put out by a news channel and financing was limited. Time Team was and is still responsible for bringing Archeology to the masses and done quite successfully. there was at least one show that was extended to an additional day. There is also the restoration time after each dig. just because the filming stopped the work was not completed until the site was restored and that took time/money/resources. There was no "dirty archeology" as stated by the other responder. All of the people involved with Time Team archeology were top academics in their field and all were extremely sensitive to proper procedure and technique.

Tony Robbinson is a very good presenter. But we need to Thank the whole Crew for they are bringing the truth about our past. Reminding us, That nations being taken over has occurred to all nations of the world over time. The Common Wealth of Britain, Is not just a British thing. It too had been taken over. Australia today is struggling with this issue. We can not change the past. All we can do is move on. However, there is an irrational situation in Australia. The aboriginal peoples have been a group of as many as 60 tribes. That had survived for apparently 60,000 years but I have not seen that as proof myself. Sadly the current situation is many Aboriginals are still Tribal and have little World experience. They are being pushed by who? to try to reclaim a position of control. Of what is, after being Landed/invaded over 300 years ago, now a place of Modern Cities, electrical power, clean water, and many modern-day services. Yet many of the Aboriginal peoples are not educated even though schooling has been there but not made use of with the exception of a part of the Aboriginal Peoples. They are seeking as, "Constitutional right to be heard and it must be listened to". That is Not Just a voice. That is a controlling voice! Forgive me if these numbers are not accurate but they will be close. There are about 980,000 Aboriginals and many are not pure in the bloodline. It also has been imposed that if they feel Aboriginal they are? There is no real guide to being Aboriginal that I am aware of. That would meet what is excepted in the World, in terms of the bloodline. So the situation is 980,000 (Aboriginal peoples get a special say within the constitution). In a nation of 26 million? Sadly due to the Nature "culture of Aboriginal peoples". (Disclaimer; Not All). The Nation was and has been built on the work of Migrates who are now by far the majority of the people. Now there are very wild claims that there were over a billion aboriginals. This is not correct as there has been no farming and all other issues that would sustain so many people. Australians are being asked to vote for these changes without full knowledge of the long-term outcomes. The government has paid for YES vote information but NOT! For No vote information. This is a very BAD situation and the people have NO say at all on how this is run or what is written in the Constitution. Wokeness is propelling this and not even Aboriginal people know what is going on! The whole issue is Racist on all levels no matter what your view of the issue. which is also not clear. As I believe there are as many as 11 Aboriginal politicians in Government. Not to mention the special Councils that are for Aboriginal Islanders. Also extra and over all others benefits. This is NOT a good situation.

This situation with the Aboriginals is sad but not unique. This very same situation has happened and is happening in many countries around the world. So there are many ways to try and handle these kinds of situations. They just have to pick what best suits them and their needs. If they are willing to work with the existing Gov. then count your blessings and work with them. But do us all a favor please. Please edit your message to make it understandable. You are all over the place, you're repetitive and the way you've written it seems as though you think we are all your neighbors that know exactly what you are trying to say. When explaining complex situations like this just assume that your audience just learned what 2+2 is and speak calmly, slow and clearly.

@@danhnguyen-fn9eb Thank you for your comment. I will take that and read my comment again. In my defence ( a little ) I sent this from my phone. I have big fingers, also my phone is making silly changes. But truthfully my written skills are not the best. It is why I know the value of schooling. This world requires education. So I understand the real task. Child education but that often clashes with "Culture" of the hunter, gather. It also Clashes with Lazy white people too. I have gifts but reading a book, writing. Are not among them. You are very polite, so thank you.
