I must've seen the Format back in 2007, I live in a rather large city, I guess it was the largest venue in my city excluding stadiums, probably had about 100-150 people. I made a CD and playlist for my girlfriend at the time of the songs they played in order, I remember I kept that CD long after we weren't together and that CD was so scratched parts were see-through, but somehow it still played and the playlist remained. I'm a bit sad to remember this and that I've since lost it, even if it lasted as long as it did...better times.

I mean this in a good way, but this song has a weird mix of indie pop and melancholy that imo Bleed American doesn't come close to with its overall much more mainstream early-2000s rock sound. Then again, while I personally love "Sweetness", I'd be perfectly content with never hearing the rest of Bleed American again, I don't personally dig any of its other tracks. I might not be pinpointing what exactly it is, but there's definitely something about this song that vibes very differently from Bleed American.
