With Walter Coy as the Narrator. This is an episode of the Frontier series that original aired in 1955 and 1956. The episodes were based on true stories of the American West. This is episode 1 of season 1 of the Frontier series. This is episode 32 of The Forsaken Westerns, an original TV series produced by Westerns On The Web Productions in cooperation with The Westerns Channel. This episode was originally released on March 9 of 2018 on The Westerns Channel. Most of the episodes of Frontier appear to be lost. Back in 2015 the only known existing episode was The Assassin Starring Chuck Connors as Thorpe Henderson (Thorpe is representative of the real life westerner Tom Horn). Westerns On The Web along with The Westerns Channel began searching for more of these episodes, contacting film dealers that specialize in rare films many of the dealers we contacted were unaware of the Frontier series at all but one dealer in Canada told us he has a friend collector in England that may have some of these episodes. As it turned out the man in England had five episodes in his collection Paper Gunman was one of them and that is how this episode was found and released for public viewing on The Westerns Channel, Amazon and now here on the Westerns On The Web's YT channel. What an outstanding find this episode is. A newspaper man (King Donovan) in the west is always looking for a good story and decides instead of looking for a story he decides to create one. This is a dramatic enjoyable TV western episode from the most magnificent age of TV Westerns. The Forsaken Westerns series contains episodes of TV shows that were never broadcast or have not been broadcast in as many as 65 years. Almost lost forever, these rare television film treasures are now being released and uploaded for viewing from the Bob Terry's personal archive's of thousands of western films in his collection. This episode appears to be based on a real incident that occurred in 1874 when Allison sat down to dinner with a gunman named Chunk Colbert. During the meal Colbert drew his gun but it struck the table, providing Allison a chance to shoot him in the head. When later asked why he agreed to dine with a known killer, Clay replied, "Because I didn't want to send a man to hell on an empty stomach."

LEO GORDON,A GREAT CHARACTER ACTOR WHO USUALLY PLAYED A BADMAN AND DID A GREAT JOB.

Gordon was a real- life villain having done jail time in the 50's.

As well as his numerous television and film roles, Leo was a very talented screenwriter and novelist. He wrote the screenplays for the episodes of many television series and movies.

There was a deeper message to this story. Even on a larger scale war, the few leaders who caused so many problems are often motivated by Fame as well as power and money. The newspapers provide them with a platform to grow their legend. I'm sure they don't always push as hard as that reported did, however, they inadvertently feed the fire.

King Donovan who played the newspaperman in this episode, was a very versatile actor and could play straight roles and was equally good in comedy roles.

The film wasn’t real clear but the first person Clay Allison shot looked a whole lot like Ernest Borgnine. The credits didn’t list everyone in the cast. This is one western I not only haven’t seen any episodes but I never heard of! Thanks for the upload.

@@bimbamjam damn I guess something's up with that, there's a few things it could be either it's a Hollywood backdrop ' you got to remember it was a lot clearer back in thosedays, The air is a lot drier not much humidity, really calm and nice day as well, I have seen some videos where they could see certain landmarks that were really far away, usually under 200 miles" 400 is quite a distance ? that is definitely a bimbambozler ?
