i miss when shops were managed by real people and not AI, i swear they fired the guys that managed the item shops

I think they have because the itemshop skins are only around 100-150skins at the moment which rotate on a cycle of around 1Week to 2months with 0 new skins being put into the daily rotations, this is so strange to me because the shop virtually doesn't change now which I'm sure means that they are making alot less money from people no purchasing vbucks. Now this is a wild theory that I've put together but I have a theory that the shop is now managed by ai and it puts skins in the shop which gets the most purchases, what I mean by this is when a skin let's say surfwich gets put into the shop and it gets 200 purchases it will see this and put it back in, the issue with this is skins which havnt been release in a long time like 250+ days will have 0 purchases which means the ai will see this as a bad seller and therefore won't put it in the shop, this is just a theory of mine because the shop hasn't truely changed in around 7months now with the og season and chapter 5 having these artifical shops

I'm new to the game only really playing with my son. The shop has been awful. There are a select few skins I would be prepared to buy, but they are never there. Well that's not entirely true. Darth Mall was available a few days back. I didn't know the date when it would disappear was listed before this video. I wanted to get it but needed to wait to add funds to the account. I logged in specifically to buy it and it was gone. Ridiculous. The previous starwars stuff was rubbish and was in there for weeks. I'd assumed I had longer to get Mall. Given there are only 4 or 5 skins We would want, Epic will likely not be taking money off me for a few years. Their loss.

Limited exclusivity gives them a good window to exploit the fomo, but also gives players access to cosmetics that haven't been around for a while ... meaning more money for Epic. I genuinely don't understand why they don't just do it - especially given the number of collabs locked behind battle passes. They are leaving SO MUCH money on the table it's insane. I also came up with (and submitted) the idea of "Lucky Chests", which would be opened via Quests each day. Each Lucky Chest is exclusive to the player who opens it and has a chance to offer a rare cosmetic to buy. That way, you don't get suddenly flooded with Peelys, but people have a chance to be able to buy the rarer skins. It would sell like hotcackes, I reckon. Best of all, it requires you to play in order to be able to unlock the chest, so it would drive player engagement, too.

I really like the idea of having every skin available like a roblox style shop. It would make so much more money than the rotation style they have now. Many cosmetic collectors already have a lot of the current rotation items so they are losing out on potentially millions of dollars they could get by simply having everything available all the time. They could make it in chronological order and have the newest stuff at the top of the shop and the oldest stuff at the bottom. This would also help with the people that are buying/selling accounts which they are so against.

I agree with you that exclusivity is kinda killing the game. Especially when they strive for a metaverse. I do think we need to take it a step further though in that thought process. We need to make skins that were exclusive to old battlepasses and find a way to roll them into the shop. As either a battlepass people can work on after completing the current one, or just buy them for vbucks. After 2 years, I don't think any collab skin should EVER be gone forever. Think about it this way, Little Billy is very young. His favorite hero is Spider-man. Obviously since he was a fetus when Spider-man was added into the game as a battle pass skin he'll never be able to play as his favorite OG character. That really sucks. The Zero War skin is not a good alternative and the Tom Holland skin was a gift if I remember and has never been added into the shop when they should be. Even if that is a bad example, let's point to Tony Stark, the Iron Man. Forever his iconic look is locked behind a battle pass. You can only buy the ugly knockoff Hulk Buster. All the different wolverines were tied to various timed exclusivity nonsense as well. To make it short. Collab exclusives should only be exclusive for 2 years, then they should be buyable in the shop. There is no reason to punish a kid who couldn't even make the choice to play the game when they weren't able to play it as a fetus.

They have it where you could buy practically every Jam Track released so far. There are the featured tracks visible, with every other track made available through a tab you can open up. I think Epic Games should expand upon that for their other shop content. Like a tab for Icon Series, a tab for vehicles, a tab for LEGO Builds, a tab for DC, for Marvel, Game Series, etc. Maybe something akin to the Creative Map search tabs. Where the rotation ends up being a featured rotation, rather than an exclusive item rotation.

I started playing in mid November, and I’ve wanted the skin ‘Echo’ since I started playing. I have never had any chance to get the skin because it was last in the shop in October which was before I started playing. It’s stupid, I can’t get the one skin I want for 300 days because epic just decides not to bring it back, it has a Lego style and has since the beginning but it hasn’t been in the shop since I started playing and I just have to deal with it? I hate this system

I've been waiting on some skins to return to the item shop for 100+ days and while that's not the longest time its gone before some skins reshow (I've seen some not show up in the past year+) I think its absolutely horrible that skins can even go that long without reappearing. Yes they have a lot of cosmetics but they keep putting the same 50 skins on a 30 day rotation in the shop and collab skins will stay for two weeks despite them being in the shop less than a month ago and make other skins even less likely to appear. I think it's a bad decision on them to make the shop so small. They have expandable pages for songs, why not expandable pages for other cosmetics?

The thing that bothers me is all the exclusive crap that gets added to the game, im mostly fine with the bp, but then we have crew skins, stw packs, the old fncs skins before chapter 5, starter packs, and the one that urks me the most being level up quest packs (ill never have phantasm and that hurts), we don't need all this exclusivity nonsense anymore, they have a huge enough fanbase that will just buy what they want, so why make the system to where these can never return?

Epic can't really make every skin available all the time because of licensing issues. That's why we haven't had the attack on Titan skins back

Ok I disagree with putting everything in the item shop, that ruins the whole point of being excited for something to come back. I used to play this game called Ninjala, and they added the feature to put everything in the shop, that’s what ruined the game for me. Nothing is exciting anymore. They’re actually going to lose money because people are just going to think “ehh I’ll buy it later” and never will. There’s no worry for something leaving because it’s always gonna be there.

Everything you said was on point. This daily shop ain't doing it with thousands of items. If I was them. I'd copy league of legends shop. They have a market place for all the skins, except ones that are considered holiday skins, and you usually know when those skins come back. And they have another section for discounted skins. Easy to understand and not a headache.
