About The Fosters:
“The Fosters” is a compelling, one-hour drama about a multi-ethnic family mix of adopted and biological teenaged kids being raised by two moms. Stef Adams Foster, a dedicated police officer, and her wife, Lena Adams Foster, a school vice principal, have built a close-knit, loving family with Stef’s biological son from a previous marriage, Brandon; their adopted twins, Mariana and Jesus; and newly adopted siblings, Jude, and his half-sister, Callie. As the third season of “The Fosters” continues, former foster teen Callie is now officially adopted into the Adams Foster family. She must put aside any romantic feelings for Brandon and does so by throwing herself into her “Fost and Found” website, even drawing the interest of an investor. After his performance at Disney Hall, Brandon focuses his energy on his music, working with Mat on a musical for their senior project. Mariana’s relationship with Mat is still estranged, so she turns her attention toward running for junior class president. Jesus makes a friend who is into street racing and, at his prompting, questions Ana about his biological father. When Mike discovers a secret that his foster son AJ is keeping, he is torn about what to do with the information. Jude must face the fact that his boyfriend has decided to move away while a serious medical issue for Stef results in a clash of opinions between her wife, Lena, and her mother, Sharon. Winner of a Television Academy Honors Award and GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Drama Series.

This show has helped me realise who I am, I cannot comprehend how much the cast have helped me, in ways I can never ever give thanks enough. I wish I could meet you and tell you personally how you have changed my life. I'm more confident in myself, knowing there are people out there who will love me really helps. I can never say how jealous I am of this family and would do anything for it. It's so hard to come from a bad family being raised by people putting you down constantly. Some of the lines from this show, that have been most important to me are: Stef to Callie: "You're not disposable Callie, you're not worthless" Rita to Callie: "Always one foot out the door, never taking the time to really connect" Stef to Callie: "it's hard to lose someone you love, and you never ever want to feel that pain again. But the problem with that is, that the only way to stop that, is you shut yourself off, and you stop loving, and that's no way to live" All these quotes are written down on my screen on my laptop. I was in foster care and it was crap, I never found somewhere where I was wanted, I never felt safe, I was always walking on eggshells because I knew that one wrong move and I would get sent away, there was no room for mistakes. And I've had some pretty nasty and untrue things written down in my file, that I could do nothing about. A foster family that only took in foster kids to get money. The list goes on. I've lost many family members 2 brothers, a sister, my father and all my grandparents and I've sort of closed off, so it doesn't really get to me when people die anymore, I just sort of assume that they probably will so that my heart won't break again. I think it started when my sister died I just fell apart, and the family I was in just didn't care at all. I ran away from a family when I was 17 and a half and lived under the radar until I turned 18. It was extremely liberating to be free, but depressing still that I never found a family like Callie did, I guess I envy her in that aspect. To be loved and wanted and never given up on. But I took my revenge in getting an education and showing them that even though my heart was broken, my head wasn't. I understand the struggle Callie has with her identity and not knowing what to do with my life or who I am. But I want to show the system and the fostercare providers that they have not broken me entirely, that they're not going to influence me anymore, it's just not all that easy. I hope that, even though I'm an adult now, and not as cute as I was when I was little, I can still find love someday.

I connected more to this show, than to anything else. My story is similar to Callie's story, and seeing her go through it made me feel better. But there are times when I wish that I had mom's that we're that protective of me. Sometimes I feel like I'm not wanted.
