I came to a similar conclusion, in that I reckon more general inflammation is a factor or at the very least exacerbates things. My first major attack came after a plane flight (I had eustachian tube dysfunction which resulted in barotrauma, so that in itself = instant inflammation), but i've also had some problems with my skin that required roaccutane and long term antibiotics, plus occasional bouts of abdominal migraine, which prompted my dermatologist to check me out for coeliac disease. The test was negative, but i've noticed I feel better if I eat gluten free stuff. In some people gluten's another big trigger of inflammation. So, yeah, the abdominal migraine - vestibular migraine connection could be inflammation. I'm not sure about the similarities or differences between abdominal migraine and IBS as I haven't looked into it, but that might be something for you to explore. I'd be interested to see what you come up with! P.S. I know not everyone's open to this and I would obviously recommend trying alternative treatments alongside conventional migraine medications, but i've put together a playlist of reiki videos for vestibular migraine and i've included one specifically for inflammation as i've found it to have some effect on my symptoms.

@alexteal97513 жыл бұрын
I was at my worst for 6-8 months. It’s important to stick with your medication. Let your body rest. And a big thing for me was to not let my anxiety rule me. You have to push yourself to get back to how you were. It’s not easy but I’m so much better now. Have confidence in yourself and as Matt says you will get better. Promise.

I have suffered with bowel issues since a baby and I was diagnosed with IBS at 26. I have had 3 episodes where my bowel has to empty very quickly and I have passed out. I know it’s coming due to pins and needles in my hands and feet. I get very sweaty and panicky. The last 2 episodes I have ended up in hospital due to split open head and damaged neck muscles. I am a true believer that my bowel has something to do with my VM. Great video

I have experienced episodes of diverticulitis over the past few years and this spring was diagnosed with VM. After watching this video, I’m now wondering if there is a connection, and that the former is causing the latter. I’m really suffering at the moment with VM despite being on Topomax and Qulipta. I’ve had 6 this week alone. I am planning on having surgery asap to correct my colon issue and if I see improvement in my VMs I will definitely report that here. Thank you for even giving me the idea.

I have all your symptoms even the breathing thing sometimes. How fo they check your vestibular nerve?, is it just a normal brain or neck scan?.
@thebluntyorkshireman5161 Жыл бұрын
Hi Sue. Sorry to hear this news. For me, they did it as part of the MRI scan on the brain.
@peterlesporis82743 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the information, did you try L glutamine for your bowel issues? I heard this may help. I'm currently waiting for a MRI scan and to have a vestibular investigation under the NHS. I was diagnosed back in July 2019 firstly with vestibular neuritis then BPPV and now been told by my company doctor yesterday it may be vestibular migraine. I have also had bowel/stomach issues for years and now believe this is the root of my problem. When I asked my doctor about this 2 years ago they just shrugged it off.
@thebluntyorkshireman51612 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter. I didnt - what is it? A vitamin? I bet the doctor had no idea (I agree, I think your bowel probably is the source trigger)....

Very interesting. I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis at 21. I’m now 35. I’ve had bowel problems my whole life. The last 18 months have been the worst ever as far as my ulcerative colitis is concerned. Nothing has been able to get the inflammation under control in my large intestine. Then 7 months ago I was hit with my first ever VM. And as you know, I’ve been chronic since. I have always wondered if the two are connected. Many people I’ve connected with that have VM also have IBS.
@thebluntyorkshireman51613 жыл бұрын

@@kellywaddell7145 that's very interesting, I never really thought about my bowels being the cause of my vestibular problems. But come to think of it, I had a bowel resection surgery in December of 2019. I've had crohn's disease for as long as I can remember. I started getting these vestibular symptoms about 5 months after my surgery. Now I'm beginning to wonder if the surgery could be the culprit..
@nataliacuevas58323 жыл бұрын
Think there's a link too. I've had heartburn (GERD) for about 2 months and feel breathless - turns out acid from stomach leaks into the eusophogus and can leak into your lungs making it hard to breath when acid is likely to move around (before eating or after eating a big portion). Was given ppis and eating a GERD diet (non inflammatory alkaline foods), the acid is getting better at the same time vestibular migraine/anxiety reduced. Still working on it!

This is very intresting to me as I have had bowel issues since a small child but as an adult have started suffering with random bouts of inflammation and colitis as well. I juice celery to keep down the inflammation and to keep me regular. I am a sugar adict. Trying to find a way to beat it for good. Very hard to do!

Just as it smells. I juiced an apple with it the first few times and after that I did not mind the taste. Gives you a bit of energy as well. 16 to 32 oz on an empty stomach, first thing. Give it a try but stay close to the wash room.
