Awesome video. We are about to start exactly what you did here. We up on a rock on Georgian Bay Ontario. Thanks so much for this. We will be following you closely. We won’t be doing it ourselves, not as advanced as you folks, but still very educational. 😊😊

Wow! Nice job! ICFs are new to us. They look great. And nice job tying the foundation to the rock.

Very interesting! We usually build a stepped level concrete footing to sit the forms on... but its a pain and a whole extra step. This make alot of sense in the right situation. Very nice work.

By any chance is Brenda a farmer's daughter? What a gal! What you're doing with your foundation is incredible. It's gonna take Yellowstone blowing to move that house.

Great video man. Am just wondering if quickly framing and using fast form plastic to get a level footing for ICFs would have been more or less work? Starting my project soon, hopefully.

Enjoyed that video. What is happening in the US? Steel up, Timber up, Fuel up, Basic material in short supply? At least you have things on order.... Ant & Cid x

You guys are workaholics and seriously progressing. What are your plans after you've got the house done - sit on the back porch?
@ian-c.013 жыл бұрын
Well I've never seen them before and that seems like an odd way to build a foundation but I can see how it allows you to build on a very uneven surface. It seems like there's something missing though, what do you cover all that plastic foam with ?

There is some kind of water barrier that gets wrapped or "painted" on the outside. And like any house you need good drainage around

Lots of choices, parging at grade level. Above grade whatever you like. Stone face, siding, wood. Note: harder than it looks and many crucial details.

Very surprised none of this is wired. Also that there is no vertical wired in rebar. Maybe the brand is different but mine was a LOT more stable when wired tight. Also, far less chance of a problem when pouring the cement into it. You did good work. Why straight pins into the rock? J pins wired to the rest of the structure are stronger. BTW, If I had it to do over I would build ICF to the eaves of the house if my local pump truck could fill to the height required. Just buy a small cement mixer. You will use it over and over and over on this build. Trust me.

Looks like you're doing a hell of a job, keep up the good work. P.S. Do you still have your boat?

For giggles, how much does one of those ICF blocks weigh? You and Brenda seem to be moving them around with ease.
@markbernier84343 жыл бұрын
Only a few pounds. You can lift a section of wall before you add rebar and cement.

So if there is a crawl space, it’s going to have a granite floor that is anything but flat!? Brenda really has become the “silent woman” during this build. We would love for her to be on camera more and to listen to what she has to say. Come on Ms. Brenda, speak up girl!
@lkm54623 жыл бұрын
Can’t believe you suckered her into this project. Also why not explosives?
