A tribute to Tina Cole in her role as Katie Miller Douglas in the TV show "My Three Sons." This song was written by Don Grady, who played Tina's husband, Robbie Douglas, in the show. The episode is titled "Katie's Career." This episode is from the 12th and final season of the show. Don Grady does not appear at all in any episodes during the 12th season, but his song does. It's explained in the season's opening episode that his character is away in Peru working as an engineer. Tina Cole's character remains at home with their three sons, pining for her husband's return. She writes this love song and sings it in a local nightclub. If you remember this show at all, perhaps you'll remember this song. Perhaps you'll remember how moving it was and is and what a wonder voice Tina Cole has . . . Incidentally, off camera in this video at the piano is Gene Tyburn, who kept pretty busy during the 60s and 70s with guest spots on a host of TV shows and is lately composing opera librettos and the like. This video has been edited to eliminate as much of the ambiant clutter of sounds as possible. It was not always possible to eliminate everything, but I hope you'll enjoy it nonetheless.

The song is actually presented in the "Katie's Career" episode in two parts. I edited it as one as completely as I could. I'm sorry to learn that the song was not included in a recent airing. The song is, in my estimation, critical to the plot and necessary to the action. I don't think this episode quite works without the song.

YES I also noticed that this song was cut from the episode when I recently watched it. Did TINA sing any other songs in this episode? With her beautiful singing voice they should have had her sing on more episodes. Did she ever release any 45's or Record Albums?

To the one who posted this, "Patrick King." Are you a member of the King Family? Tina Cole is the daughter of one of the four King Sisters. If so, then why, oh, why, was this song cut out of the airing of this My Three Sons episode? There are three of us right now (January 2, 2020) who are peeved by this...

I am a BIG fan of "My Three Sons." I have not seen many episodes from the 12th and last season. They are now showing on MEtv. That is a good question of why it was cut. MEtv has a website. Maybe they can answer your question of why the song was cut.

No he is not a member of the King Family. Their real name is Driggs. King was their father’s first name and sounded better than Driggs

I just watched this episode in July 2021. Song also edited from the episode. Another curious thing - Dawn Lyn (Dodie) and Ronne Troup (Polly) are not credited in episodes in Season 12. Dodie is in most episodes! Doesn't seem fair (or even legal for 2021). But Don Grady is credited even though he quit the show.

@@marywiseman2860 Those are not the original openings for Season 12, which explains why you're seeing Grady credits but not Troup or Lyn. The true opens have not been seen in decades.

I feel the same way as you do. I was so disappointed that TINA was not shown singing this song on the episode when it recently aired. I am so happy it was posted here for all of us to see.
