Frida is my absolute favourite. Her voice is perfection whether singing or speaking and she is so amazingly strong and kind. There is no denying this was the most talented group where everyone really played an important role. The Beatles wrote very clever songs and they set the stage for ABBA really, in that music publishers and recording studios started looking at the potential of singer/songwriters. Before them, most big stars were given songs to perform. ABBA without the Beatles trail blazing would have been on the folk circuit, not mainstream, so each band builds on some aspect of what went before. I'm not sure about your assessment of the Beatles, Frank Sinatra said Harrison's 'Something' was the finest love song ever written, that's some accolade coming from Sinatra. You're right in that it took the split for Harrison to emerge from the Lennon/McCartney shadow. I think I prefer listening to ABBA now, though, fits my age more, I don't want to have to try to work out what's going on in a song anymore. Agnetha seems to be the one who made the most of a solo career after ABBA, or maybe had the most publicity. it's difficult to say. She's certainly the 'iconic' member of the band, and the one sought out by photographers, reporters, and scumbags, perhaps because of that desire to be left in peace and quiet.

I'm personally convinced that Frida has Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Watch her interviews and comments, the sad circumstances of her early years, her history of leaving very young children to pursue fame, her daughter's Bpd, her envy of Agnetha and her obsession for the limelight. Also, how vindictively she treated Benny in the years after their divorce. Just read her Swedish lyrics to see the numerous digs she makes at him "covertly". This story is to make herself look sensitive and kind. This should highlight how important it is for every child to get the care they need in infancy and childhood. Early deprivation made Frida the narcissist she is.

Most of them, but not all of them. There are some incredible exceptions. U2 had another peak in the 2000s, Paul McCartney also had some hits in the 2000s. It never leaves you, trust me! I was born in 1971 and my first ever album was Super Trouper, closely followed by Greatest Hits Vol. 2. Now aged 49 I probably love them more than ever. I've spent a lot of this lockdown period watching their old videos and playing their music, footage of their live concerts in 1977 and 1979, even learning to sing Andante Andante (badly!) and seeking out content on KZbin that I haven't seen before, such as this. As a child I used to want to be Frida, the chemistry between all four of them was so special but my inspiration was always Frida, I couldn't take my eyes off her, incredible on-stage presence. And I had a crush on Bjorn. But the group as a whole needed all four of them to make them as great as they were.

But they have reunited and decided to before the date this video was posted. Having followed ABBA since they formed back in the 70's their music has stayed with me and still remains the best popular music ever written in my opinion. I always hoped they would collaborate on new material again after they split in 1983, but as the decades moved on, it seemed less likely, so I was elated to hear this was finally going to happen after so long. Of course, there has been delays in releasing this new content, but it is there and at some point soon, we will all get another chance to hear what these marvelous musicians can write and sing. Life is short and music can mean a lot to many people, it is also rare that such talent comes along so often, so it's wonderful to know we can have that experience of listening to something new from these guys again.

That was an incredible story Anni Frid shared about the friendship she developed with the butcher. This makes me really appreciate ABBA that much more. Their fame, notwithstanding, does not define who they are as people. Individually these 4 ABBA members have rich personal lives. I always love the photographs that feature so prominently in their music videos. Photos or videos of them playing cards, ice skating, picnicking or just hanging out. They are real people. I love that Bjorn said pop tunes are best written by young people at the height of their creative power which really doesn't last forever. He is honest. You make the most of your creative force while you have it and then you brace yourself for the next phase. Maybe you are always creative, but you are not always creative the same way over time. I have learned a lot just by listening to the music of ABBA and looking at their videos and photographs as well reading about their lives. What a fantastic country Sweden must be that it produced such 4 extraordinary human beings.

I was in high school (USA) when ABBA was at their peak in popularity so I remember their songs very well. There was no internet at that time, so getting to see them perform on TV was fairly rare, it was the radio where you heard their songs played. Seeing them now, it's so charming that they look at their performances as "the job" back then, and now they're retired and not really consumed by their superstardom. That ability to disconnect from their stardom is what brings home their real-life humanity. I don't know if that's because they're culturally Swedish, or what it is, but I like seeing them enjoying their older years (as I am now).
