Matt - I was just thinking recently of the importance of learning how to learn our topics of interest in the most efficient and effective manner (typically by buying books on that topic) so we can enjoy and grow in that activity further, so this video came just at the right time. So many golden nuggets you shared (my favorite was learning about "syntopical reading"), but you definitely piqued my interest in becoming a better reader and just bought the book. Thanks for sharing!

This is perfect timing then Darren! To be completely honest, this book change the way I think about reading and the way that I read. All four levels go hand-in-hand. I would love to exchange more about this book after you read it. Maybe we can create a video about it? Collaboration time?

@@BookMattic Yeah would be happy too and an honor to collaborate some time this year! Sounds like a fun opportunity, I'll let you know when I'm done with it and have reflected well on it 🙌

When you said you read different sources to connect other ideas with what you're reading, that's called 'interleaving'. I'm sure you know of that word but it's been shown to literally be one of the best learning techniques in case you didn't know. I came here to learn more about what syntopical reading was so it was interesting you turned it into interleaving.

Great point! I honestly forgot about the word interleaving, but I've dealt with it several times in education. It's agreed that it's one of the best ways to make connections to seemingly unrelated concepts. Syntopical reading can be adapted just like anything else in life. Not many things are set in stone.
