I’m Brazilian, and I’ve always thought things here in Brazil are somewhat complicated… much of our culture is inherited from Italy and Portugal. Now I know whom to blame.

There are a lot of complications all around the world.

Thank you for sharing all that you did here. It's very informative. You are very informative. You mentioned Something along the lines of condominium costs for condos... Even if it's an apartment you are renting that could still be condominium costs? Does that mean that it's a condo and not an apartment that you are renting? I know what the differences are between a condo and an apartment.
@MsBritaly21 күн бұрын
Thank you. So yes if your apartment is in a shared access building with other people, usually there is a cost that every household contributes towards for maintenance, cleaning and a caretaker if your building has one.

Also love this video. We're considering short-term rentals to learn what it's like to live in different regions in Italy before setting roots. Fell in love with the city of Salerno already as a vacation spot for all the pros and cons (really pros to us) that you've mentioned before, but need to know more about actually living there. thanks

Yes there’s nothing like spending a prolonged period of time in a place to truly get to know it

Hi there i am moving to italy hopefully before xmas from ireland probably in January in process of selling my home, could you explain what they mean about references for renting, i.e references from whom etc ... thank you
@MsBritaly3 ай бұрын
References from people who can verify your character, maybe also employment references if you are working....this is generally what is meant by references

My idea is to crash on MsBritaly’s couch and leave a few bob on the kitchen table🤷♂. That would be so much easier than all of that. 😁👍🏻

Can you get tentals with utilities included? Thank you
@MsBritaly10 ай бұрын
Rarely - usually you have to pay these on top.

How would you compare rent prices in Milan x London? Just curious… :) Grazie mile!
@MsBritaly10 ай бұрын
I don’t live in Milan but I know people who do and it’s crazy expensive if you’re in the main centre (much the same as London). You can find more ‘reasonable’ places but outside of the main part of Milan

Have you ever thought of buying there? Eg. the 'one Euro' house thing ?
@MsBritaly8 ай бұрын
Not yet and definitely not the 1 Euro homes because they end up eating up your money with the works that often need to be done.

I'm finding it hard that often the landlords want someone with references or a permanent job contract and they don't want to rent to foreigners. I don't have a job contract, I am using my savings and in the future I want to be self-employed working online.
@MsBritaly7 ай бұрын
It's complicated because renting here in Italy provides a lot of rights to tenants and as such, it can be very difficult for landlords to evict tenants if there are problems, without a lengthy and costly process - especially if there are children resident. Therefore landlords are a little more nervous and want to do their due diligence beforehand.

You are the first to talk about rubbish tax as far as I know. I thought it was included in the condominium fees. But you mean if you want your furniture up to sixth or tenth floor in the city, they'll take it up outside the building? That can't be true! But important to make a contract with the removal company that is clear about who's paying for delivering the furniture inside the apartment, whether moved through the staircase or not.
@MsBritaly7 ай бұрын
Yes your rubbish tax is an independent tax paid to the city so separate from condominium fees, which go to your building manager. In terms of moving furniture outside of the buildings - yes it’s very common here in the South especially. In fact it’s actually less common for furniture to be moved inside of the building.

I lived in Italy for almost 2 yers and never found peace, the boureocracy, the complications, the medieval mentality... Instagram makes it look so far from reality
