Oh I LOVE Arsenic and Old Lace! I spent so much time watching classic movies when I was younger. I love It Happened One Night.

I also love this film, especially the atmosphere that is created surrounding the story. It’s Halloween, & the outdoor scenes really capture the sensation of a dark & windy night with leaves blowing & the cemetery right next door! The acting is top-notch, though it can go overboard a bit at times. Thanks, Kate, for reminding us all about this delightful movie! 🎃

I absolutely LOVE this movie. It cracks me up every time I watch it. And yes, at the age of 37, I still have the urge to yell “CHAAAAAAAAARGE” whenever I go up a flight of stairs. And his aunts are just so sweet and demure...and lethal. Cary Grant does so well with comedy, because he’s always the “straight guy” who gets put into the craziest situations. Have you seen His Girl Friday? Or Bringing Up Baby?

I love that movie so much! I was recently gifted the script from when a local community theater performed it in the 1940s. Fun fact: I took a theater class in college and one day a mannequin was propped up on a chair when we arrived for class. Someone asked who it was, another (probably me, but I honestly don't remember) replied "Mr. Spinoza!" as a joke. Turns out we weren't wrong-- the college had performed the play a couple years before I was a student and used the dummy for Mr. Spinoza!

Cary Grant was the best! For an actor with such a dignified presence, he had absolutely no issues appearing foolish on camera.

“Where’d you get that face? Hollywood?” LOL! The character of his brother was originally played by Boris Karloff on Broadway and because he was so well-recognized from “Frankenstein,” they made it the running joke.

I remember feeling startled too when I watched Arsenic and Old Lace! That's a good way of putting it. Also, I'm impressed that Peter and Arthur both sat through all of Sound of Music! I actually just rewatched it a week ago and it is just so good.

Mr Smith Goes to Washington is so very good - one of Jimmy Stewart’s best (after It’s a Wonderful Life) - but it’s not cozy. I absolutely love Cary Grant but he seems best in the Hitchcock films. Fun that the boys are enjoying old movies!

Lovely video! This is one of my favourite films (I simply adore Cary Grant), but I think that I also prefer "It's a wonderful life"...

It’s been many years since I watched Arsenic and Old Lace but I remember loving it. It’s a Wonderful Life is one of my favourite films of all time but I don’t think I’ve seen any other Frank Capra films beyond those. It’ll be interest to see your thoughts on the others!

My Fav. Capra movie is Mr. Deeds Goes to Town. Much better than the remake Mr. Deeds.
