When I first got my go-cart my belt did the same thing and we could not find the right size so I just made my go-cart chain driven instead or belt to chain and it made it go faster.

@@andrewcooper3172 clearly said the belt slipped. If you converted it to chain driven which couldnt slip, it in fact would go faster because there is no belt to slip.

Not sure if you realized but you can use the engine mounts to tension the belt and the 4 bolts on the jackshaft only to tension the chain

That chain setup is perfect for a comet or Max torque 20 series. Keyword: TWENTY series. Theyre symmetrical vs the asymmetrical 30 series. Shouldn't be too hard to install either!

I wouldn't sweat it with the lawnmower engines. What you want to put on it is a 140cc 4 speed manual pitbike engine. You'll have insane power and top speed. 16hp from a 140cc and only 6.5 from a 212

i have an identical cart, swapped a 30 series with a 7" driven and a 5.4:1 ratio. it only goes 30, but launches like a rocket.

What you really need to do is take off the belt change it into a chain drive that way you can have different gear ratios more torque or crazy speed also can you please say what bolt pattern that is

So I recently brought a I believe it * from the guy I brought it from * a 2002 murray go kart looks like it has a really old 212 predator engine in it but it doesn’t stay on , when I hit the gas while my dad sprays I think brake fluid or something it stays on but if he stops the kart turns off any who what it might be ?

The belt is not supposed to slip at all so should be very tight and let the clutch do all the necessary slippage as it's designed to ok the belt can be nearly solid as it's not like those tension slip clutch belts like on some it's a constant drive belt that can only slip if it really has to if something goes wrong 😉
