The Freelancer MIS

The Freelancer MIS is the gunship version of the freelancer variants. Bulky and slow but makes up for it with the expanded bespoke missiles bays, sacrificing cargo to be an enhanced war fighting machine.
This is the type of ship I would upgrade from a cutlass black too. If I enjoyed the combat support role of the cutlass then I can fine tune my niche profession from a jack of all trades ship to a more narrow career focused path.
Componets
Now Looking at the components that make up the ship the MIS comes with a class C military size 2 Quantum drive, this is ok
Two Artic size 2 grade C military class coolers,
You can swap these out with the grade B industrial class snowfall coolers
The ship has A Maelstrom size 2 grade C military class power plant, this also is ok
And two full stop size 2 C grade military class shield generators.
Id hope to see move components for larger ships in the future for we have a limited variety as of 3.5.1

Tactics
Now Let's discuss some tactics and loadouts
My personal loadout for fighter control includes the default loadout being the size 3 gatling guns and swapping out the wing missiles racks with 2 size 4 octo racks, giving me 16 size 1 missiles under my wings. The to other pylons are 4 size 2 rattlers.. That is 8 ratters and each have 7 warheads... and the remaining 20 size 3 missiles internal to the ship for a grand total of 92 missiles
Sometimes i will switch between scatter guns if i'm in a fleet.
however
This allows me to stay at range and slowly bleed off the shields of a fighter, get to close and then my quad gatlings will make quick work for the ship due to the already weakened shield.
Keep distance and try not to get into a turn fight, if you do then push the gap wider and force the opponent closer to you while using missiles.
For equal size of ships i will keep the standard missile loadout and switch out the guns for the energy quarrler cannons that you can purchases at Arc corp, 4 of these make quick work of most ships, making this loadout good for mission bounties as well
Since im fighting a ship of equal size i can afford to get a little closer without having to worry about the agility. … once they start to break off i then use missles to make up for the gun range
And for larger ships i will go for the ballistic repeaters to assist shield piercing, and make the wing missiles racks 4 size 4 missiles on the external hardpoints, still same missiles internal, but each size 4 missile is roughly doing 5k dps, cannons give me long range and the missiles assist with the distance gap as well but usually i don't break this out by myself, only in a fleet, or else i risk exhausting ammo on a more beefy ship.
I don't worry too much about the back turret, whatever feels best your then use it in this case.
Just remember all i'm doing is try to give recommendations, so if you find a loadout and a strategy that fits you then use it, cause at the end of the day its you choice
Now As for my own thoughts on the ship
with the analysis we went through
This is a ship id get for mission runner along with most other fleet and non fleet activities.
And you can still carry a decent amount of cargo being 36 SCU
you can still put a vehicle in the rear, and drop off troops, so overall you sacrifice some cargo space for a heavily combat oriented ship
Me personally I use this for npc bounties, and can make over 100k uec an hour once I hit 8k bounties,
Usually your fight constellations, and those quarreler cannons i mentioned earlier make quick work of them. Wink wink hint hint
in a week of just doing 20 minutes of mission running I went back to almost 1 mill UEC.
Once AGAIN when ship rentals and more ships are up for grabs then you can work your way toward this ship your most likely make your money back in no time with the rit loadout and mindset.
But of course... its your journey overall, so use the ship as you please

I'm now experimenting with different missile loadouts, but for the guns and turret, Attrition 3 (overclocked) and Dominance 2 has been a really strong combination that's let me stay out for far, far longer than my Sabre. I'm not sure if I've tried Quarrellers on Connies, but i'll have to check that out for sure. Thanks for the video! Love seeing stuff on the MIS. Do you overclock the Quarrelers or is it even worth it?

I own the MIS and I actually always comeback to the stock weapon loadout. Because I feel the stock s3 missale can deal with most ships (small or big) and the s3 gatlings take good care of whatever gets to close for comfort. But overall I love ship and it's very fufilling to play as a ship that can change the tide of a fight. But thank you fo your great videos and I am looking foward to trying out some new loadouts with my MIS

I quite like the mis and it's concept behind it. It's the ideal mission runner for when you have a small crew, or even for when you're solo.

I really love the MIS. It can deliver quite a punch while still being able take one too. Gunships tend to be glass cannons for balance purposes, but I definitely wouldn't call the MIS frail. Great rundown on the MIS, Seer.

Fellow MIS owner here. You're spot on with all points. I'd mention the performance envelope in PVP where the missiles enjoy a sweet spot around 6k where you can engage most things but your likely prey cannot respond. I also enjoy the middle ground with the SW16BR3 Shredder cannons on the "nose" guns. It hunts fighters and heavier ships easily with the only caveat of ammunition endurance. But like you said, it's preference.

Excellent as always. This is my third review of this video and I cannot see any flaws. But I highly recommend OMNI SKY IX . THEY DEAL only 4 points less damage and are a hellvua lot cheaper in price ea. I have try both lasers and you can’t tell the difference. NEXT , A VIDEO ON 600i , CONSTELLATIONS AND CUTLESS BLACK upgrades for battle situations . For Carrie perilous, cargo ,ha ha smuggling.

YES! The Freelancer MIS is one of my favorites in the verse, and I can't wait to watch this... Now I will unpause it and enjoy. Thank you.. Thoughts on the video, you never mentioned the range and quantum speed of the MIS. Both are very good. :) Your missile load out idea is a great. I will test it ASAP for my self. I think of the Freelancer MIS as having two roles in my fleet. First it can function as a type of high security transport. It is much like a porcupine, nobody fucks with a porcupine... Unless they want a face full of missiles. LOL The second role would be a missile gun boat escort. It had the speed to testing quickly in a forward base exploration fleet. Currently I'm using it as a daily driver with all it's great features.

Can't wait for EMP missiles. This is gonna be a wicked combat ship in any role. Makes me sad for the Tali as I don't know how it can compete with this monster. Torpedoes are great but so specialized and expensive. This ship is in a great place.

I believe it is in terms of combat, you lose SCU but gain a substantial amount of firepower. Cost if a factor, but if you ccu you to it then it won't hurt you in terms of buying full price unless IRL is rough then you can just get it in game.

the freelancer max was my first ship i had it was really dope i havent gotten to fly the MIS yet but if it was anything like the MAX i can bet its worth the price :D i might have to grind up to it in 3.6 if its at the ship purchasing terminals

You should do general loadouts as well. I know allot of time you don't know what you will go up against and having your ship heavily specked 1 way or another can be dangerous. Some good tips for pilots who could encounter anything would be helpful as well.

I'd imagine the Freelancer MIS as an armed cargo transport for conflict zones, using the weapons for defence. To use in a full combat role, I'd expect to see more cargo space sacrificed for missiles, and possibly a second turret on the belly.

I'm not sure if I would upgrade from the Cutlass to the MIS. The MIS has amazing shields and missiles, yes. But if you make that upgrade, you give up hull hitpoints, maneuverability, hitbox size, and of course cargo space. Not sure if that's worth it for the extra price.

it just dependings on what you are looking for, I honestly dont think its a gunship just because of its missles, you do give up A LOT of flexibility, Id say keep the cutty, rent the MIS and if you end up enjoying the MIS more or vise versa then proceed down the career path yopu choose! o7

Look at The vanguard pls. It's seemingly the best ship to have for a duo in the verse (combat based of course), and the hype is building for its tweaking in 3.6. Many are torn because of its high skill ceiling that gives them the impression that it cant do either its fighter or heavy role properly. Its price is too close to the retaliator one would say but it's price and performance is certainly multifaceted across its design

Hello, is it possible to close the missile doors on top? And how do we shoot those missiles? I have a MIS and after shooting the wing mounted i cant shoot the top ones or lock any target. Is there any default key for that?

You can close the top doors by clicking "p", this disables your weapon systems, thus closing the door And you would shoot them as normal, until you can prioritize missiles you firing order is wing mounted first then the bespoke missles, if you are having trouble firing them you may need you cycle weapons and get up out of your seat. If this continues then you might need to claim for ship.

I still wait for a change to the targeting system - i'd want absolutely want to lock on multiple targets and fire at them at once (at least the two-four from the repeaters). I think any military would give it that capability, most likely they'd even be able to link the target displays of two MIS for coordination.

Yep, i can do about 7 to 10 8k bounties in roughly 20 toc30 minutes depending how the servers are doing, if i grinded for an hour straight then i could probably make 100k that hour.

@@Seerthe6th takes about 5 minutes for a 'neutralize" icon to show up for me to even know where my bounty is. (usually sort of near Grim Hex) but once I get to grim It's 80-170 km flight away from there taking 2-3 minutes just to arrive, sure the kill is quick (I usually use a Warden). But at 3 minutes between bounties, that's 24 minutes of travel. How do you do it?

@@LordTiberius52 again it depends on server health , but i align to an OM warp there and the warp to GH and shut off engines when close to a bounty and cruise there, some times is 150 km or less i fly to get a target, or i get multiple bounties at SPK or an covelex
