Basically, the young girl was raped and sexually assaulted on screen via coercion from the rapist and his co rapist who both made money and got famous from this crime. The girl was discarded, traumatized and humiliated, and thousands of viewers across the world repeated this offense by viewing it, we're tricked into becoming complicit with the rapists. She received no trauma counseling it seems and spiraled into a dark live. I'm sure her cancer had quite alit to do with her unresolved trauma. Physically, sexually, emotionally and legally, this woman was raped on and on. Now that the truth is revealed, the film should be removed, banned from being watched. It's not art or an arty movie at all but a rape captured on film and enables secondary rape of a person by being viewed and reacted to by viewers. Surely other legal action can be taken too.

I was young when the movie came out. As an ex-drama student I heard awful things that were done to Maria. To this day I refused to see the movie. She was a victim of rape and it’s unacceptable. It’s appalling that anyone would call that scene an erotic work of art. It’s grotesque and perverted in every way. Both the Director and Brando should have been held accountable. It doesn’t matter if it was an exotic film but the director and Brando premeditated to rape the actress which was not in the script. What makes me sick is how Brando’s son tried to clear his father’s name. Also, Brad Pitt wished that he had a role like Brando. It’s so disturbing in so many levels. Young people are used as pawns which rich and powerful people in the industry destroy and use souls for their own perversions.

I saw that movie in Vermont in a theater. I had no idea until now that it was really a rape film. I'm sure that the back story was out there, but I really did not realize what had happened. I saw this film as a young woman myself. I went with my best friend. We were young and thought ‘oh wow, let’s go watch it if it’s erotic’. We both thought there was nothing erotic about it - it was vile. What would a beautiful young girl see in the ugly, self-centred Brando. And as for Bertolucci . . . Now, all these years later a friend of mine came out with a great comment (totally unrelated to this) “all it takes is two men with issues” (to make a woman feel she’s wrong). They took massive advantage of that girl and they should have been reported and prosecuted for this. A film is not for rich old men to play out their fantasies. No wonder I didn’t date older men!

I saw this film. It was more than butter they used on that young woman. They should have been jailed. As for Miko....it's on film and can not be denied. Plus the director has a video out stating that Marlon and he did the scene without Marie's permission or knowledge.
