I was just reflecting on this yesterday. One of Rousseau's famous sayings: "L'homme est ne bon, c'est la societe qui le corrompt" meaning "man was born good, but it is society that corrupts him." This is in contradiction with the Gospel. We are born sinful. We are not a blank slate at birth. The Gospel shows us our sinful nature and only by the blood of Jesus can we be redeemed. The day I realized this truth was the greatest day of my life. Empty philosophies do not give life. Only Jesus does.

Religion told you that you are born sinful. Your religion says that. Non Abrahamic religions do not say that. Only your religion has trouble with sex. Other religions celebrate puberty and do not find anything wrong with sex. Only Christianity and alike have this sort of dirty fascination with sex.

Christianity unfortunately is very contradictory and sadly people believe in it with no proof of anything but want to believe it so badly. Cant even live a life without guilt because if the rules that it picks and chooses. Yet christians dont even follow all of its teachings. Sad sad

@@richardgomes5420 Christians don't have "trouble with sex", we just believe that sex should be enjoyed within marriage, not outside of it. And many religions have similar rules about sex. Look at the STI rate- about 1 in 5 people in the USA have an STI and there are millions of new cases each year, because people think casual sex is ok. And it's usually women who are not married who get abortions as well.

Rousseau confirmed the bible on some thing about the goodness of man before man was corrupted.the ten commandments are written naturally in the heart of mankind. We are created in a good God's image as the bible also teaches. Therefore man is naturally good but can so often become corrupted if they become uncaring.

Atheism is a religion, as fasting is meal. Atheism is a religion, as bald is hair style. Atheism is a religion, as celibate is sexual orientation. Atheism is a religion, as a turned off TV is entertainment. --- Atheism is something very simple: You tell me that you believe on a deity and I say: "I'm not convinced.". It is that simple! And that's all.

That`s agnosticism at best. Atheism is the denial of the existence of God and it is a religion. Notice how we don`t have a word for anything else. For example we don`t have a word for people who don`t believe in unicorns. We don`t have a word for people who don`t believe in flying frogs etc. Atheists also act like religious people as well. They think they have found "the truth" and they hope to convince everyone of that truth. Much like a Christian preacher would for example. Atheists very much live in accordance with their faith as well. Because they don`t believe in a God who is all knowing and all powerful they act as if most things are permitted. The problem with atheism is that it is ultimately meaningless and it leads to nihilism which isn`t sustainable. That`s why most atheist become pagans and start believing in the green movement, communism and other "secular faiths" if you will.

@@cowboybeboop9420 You are putting lots of things inside a blender and pressing the start button. Atheism says absolutely nothing about communism, nihilism, or even a secular worldview, despite I grant secularism is close to atheism. Atheism is opinionated about deities specifically. Atheism says nothing about politics or philosophy. Atheism only says "I'm not convinced about your claim involving deities". And that's all. Nothing is being denied here. Atheism says "I'm not convinced"... and that's all. So, you as a Christian say that a semigod or maybe god itself was nailed onto a cross. And atheists say "I'm not convinced". You as a Hindu say that three gods are responsible for creating, running and destroying the Universe in a cycle of 3.5 trillion years. And atheists say "I'm not convinced.". You as a deist say that a disembodied mind created the Universe. And atheists say "I'm not convinced". And so on. The list is pretty long. There are literally thousands of religions making hundreds of thousands of claims. And atheists say to all those claims: "I'm not convinced.". And no: atheism is not agnosticism at best. The basic difference is that agnostics instead of saying "I'm not convinced", they say basically "It's not possible to be convinced as it is not possible to be not convinced.". Agnosticism is the position you take when you don't want to be associated to Religion and when you don't what to be associated to Atheism. Despite all corrections I just did, I agree with you that there are atheists who positively claim that no gods exist in reality. I'm one of those, by the way... but this would be a (very long) subject for being discussed another time. And yes, I agree with you that there are atheists who proselytize as theists do. And once again, I'm one of those, since I believe that Religion poisons people with bad advice like slavery, misogyny, segregation, etc. However, once again, this is a matter for another time. Despite atheists like me, not all atheists are the same. I would say that the vast majority of atheists are actually inside the closet since being atheist is seen as a bad thing in certain contexts or certain countries. Just a final correction: Religion requires faith by definition, Religion imposes dogmas by definition and Religion involves rituals in practice. So, Atheism cannot be classified as Religion.

@@richardgomes5420 I mean no offence but it seems to me that you have a very firm grasp of atheist dogma and atheist talking points but like most atheists have no actual idea of what religion is. As a religious man myself I can easily tell by some of the things you said about religion. I used to be much like you myself but then I educated myself in the matter and as a consequence experienced a shift in perception. This is actually I think one of the great tragedies of our time. Modern people have a tendency to believe that all the people that came before them were some kind of morons who lacked "science" and therefore it`s all a bunch of halabalou. I actually think that things like religion should be studied in schools much like the way we study philosophy, history, literature and civics. Not so much because of converting people but rather so we can all speak the same language. I feel like today atheists like yourself and religious folk like me use the same words but mean completely different things. That`s why I developed a greater respect for muslims because even though we disagree we argue about the same things. Because I actually agree with the famous atheists like Hitchens and Dawkins and Harris. I wouldn`t believe that crap they attack either. That being said I find their points either ignorant or cowardly. What they do is they build a strawman of religion that no one or either completely ignorant people believe in and attack that. They don`t ever however counter argue the official Catholic or Orthodox teachings or even confront the evangelical intellectual elite. To me it`s pretty obvious that a single God exists. From the laws of science we know that everything that begins to exist has a causality. There for if we go down the line to the original cause of everything then it must be something timeless, spaceless, eternal and uncaused and there are only two things that fit that notion. Either abstract things like numbers or a personal mind/being and numbers cannot be causal. The moral argument you made is also I`m sorry but completely not well though off. I`m talking about those things where you said that religion causes slavery, segregation, etc. First of which religion. There are I believe around 6000+ religions on this planet and they all teach completely different things. Also I think it`s pretty hard to make that argument about in this case Christianity considering it was the Catholics that were responsible for banning slavery in Europe, banned confessions of crimes as a result of torture and it was Christians in general who advocated for the separation of state and church as is written in the Bible and who invented human rights and so much more. Moreover if there is no God then objective moral values do not exist. In fact ultimate meaning itself does not exist as is acknowledged by most atheist thinkers by the way. Things can have meaning in relation to other things but not ultimate meaning which makes our lives meaningless. We are simply balls of meat who came to exist by accident and as such all those evil things which you listed such as slevery, etc shouldn`t bother you at all since they are just as morally right as love, helping the sick etc. I should know. I was an atheist at one point and it made perfect sense to me. That`s why I was more or less a Nazi at one point in my youth.

@@cowboybeboop9420 I'm really sorry but I had to ignore your argument after I've read a couple of gross mistakes in sequence: 1st mistake: > I mean no offence but it seems to me that you have a very firm grasp of atheist dogma There's no such thing like "atheist dogma". There's no such dogma. So, your entire argument is nonsense. First of all, you need to understand what "dogma" means, which is clear to me that you don't. Please look for the meaning of "dogma" in any good dictionary then review your argument, please. 2nd mistake: > atheists have no actual idea of what religion is. Most atheists know sufficiently well several religions. Most atheists know subtle details about Christianity (for example) that most Christians (for example) do not know. The same pattern applies to other religions too. I know sufficiently well several religions from West, India, China and I have a relatively good grasp of Philosophy as well, both Western and Indian philosophy. Conclusion: So, once again, and I'm sorry, but I had to ignore your answer after a succession of two gross mistakes in a row. Thanks a lot for your time.

@@richardgomes5420 I can see we are not going to come to a point of agreement. I actually assume that you`ve read my previous comment and didn`t understand what I was saying because this a comment section and not a live conversation or you did in fact understand it but don`t really have an answer to the points I`ve made. It`s okey. I`ve never heard an atheist actually answer these points also I think most people who have clung to a belief for a long have a tendency of denial. Even atheists who proclaim "rationality above all" but most times have completely emotional points. All that aside you really don`t understand religion friend. You just use the same words as religious people to mean different things at best. I can tell from the discussion we`ve been having. It`s either that or you read religious texts the way a child does. You probably read some religious text 1-2 times or maybe have some leftover knowledge from when you were 15 yo or something. This is not an insult btw it`s just an observation. People like Sam Harris are the same as well. Still nice talking to you. Have a nice life!

Interesting video; thanks for your work in this area. But the thing is, in Rousseau's essay "Christ and Socrates," he affirmed that he was a Christian and he affirmed Christ's divinity.
