Hi grant I did a mod on a jazz bass 20 years ago. It was a squires jazz that someone had already ripped the frets out . I put Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounders in and holy cow it be punched. And yesterday I upgraded my Mexican pbass with Seymour Duncan 1/4 pounders and a fender version of the badass bridge. Cheaper basses offer more lessons then the expensive ones do. I don’t think I would modify a $3.5k jazz bass vrs a $600 one
