I saw this back in the early 1960s, with my brother -- it was shown in serial form, on all the cartoon shows, and for a only a short while. In thinking about it, I realized it had to be a foreign anime. Glad to find this again. Thanks so much for uploading. They used the shot of her looking in a mirror as a frog as the title card.

This and several other Russian cartoons were played regularly on a Chicago children's show called 'The Garfied Goose Show' from about 1957 to 1964.

Princess and the Frog felt pretty weak... the consequence of trying to stretch out the already thin story of the original. This version of the story had a lot more going to it, and had a really classic feel to it. Definitely the superior film!

Unfortunately, in the West this often happens, especially in the USA. This applies not only to cartoons. In some countries, for example in Japan, the names of the characters in the film are generally changed. How can you transfer the soul of the film to someone else's music. Sometimes the translation is also incorrect. In the end, if all this is added up, the meaning of the film is lost.

This is so similar to The White Cat! Three brothers tasked with bringing their father, the king, certain things. The youngest meets a white cat who lives in a castle in the woods. She helps him with each task his father sets for him, eventually turning into a beautiful young maiden when the son is tasked with finding a bride. It's a really lovely fairy tale by the Baroness Orzcy if I'm correct.

animation is so dreamy and fluid, Disney is nowhere close to this level of fineness. these princesses are not sexualised by narrow hips and large boobs like Disney princesses, they are chubby and healthy with pink cheeks 😊

Soviet animation. Soviet animation was a really interesting and unique piece of media. It wasn't perfect, but there was a lot of good stuff. Russian animation is in its dark ages. Since Soviet Union dissapear animation in Russia gone through hell. There are so few decent flicks (both in animated movies and tv-shows) in last 20 years.
@brasspipes25488 жыл бұрын
anyanP, I think same could be said about the Western animation. it's mostly computer animated sexualized crap.
@anyanP8 жыл бұрын
integer, which exactly western animation? If we talking about US' animation there is a lot more than that. US have Disney that backing on track again, US have Pixar, that still decent. There is a god of stop motion animaton Laika. And this is only animated studios that making good full lenth movies for theater. There also a decent movies from less "consistently good" studios, like Dreamworks' movies. In straight-to-DVD area there was a lot of good-to-okay animated movies from DC. And US' animation for TV right now in it's revival era - CN with Adventure Time, Steven Universe, We Bare Bears and The Amazing World of Gumball, Disney with Star vs Forces of Evil and Milo Murphy's Law (and only recently ended Gravity Falls and Wander over Yander), even Nikelodion have some gems like Legend of Korra, Harvey Beaks and The Loud House. Netflix getting into animation as well with BoJack Horseman, Voltron and Trollhunters. And even it's "dark ages" of 00's US' animation was able to spawn decent, even good show once in a while. Yes there is a lot of crap, but there at least a lot of good stuff. Russian animation yeah, have less crap (probably), but it dosen't have any gems and only so few decent shows.
@brasspipes25488 жыл бұрын
Honestly I don't think either Disney or Pixar or DreamWorks have any decent cartoons left. The ones you listed are all computer animated, bland crap, nothing even close to King Lion, Aladdin etc etc
@anyanP8 жыл бұрын
integer, i guess you just don't like computer animation. Because in terms of story, characters and over all quality recent Disney movies are as good as old ones, in particular Zootopia that in my opinion is one of the best Disney movies. Pixar... well, yeah, in latest years it didn't release sany masterpieces, but it still produces a good movies, like Inside Out (massivly overrated, but good) and Finding Dory. Dreamworks have some good movies in this dacade too, like Rise of the Guardians, Mr. Peabody & Sherma, How To Train Your Dragon 2 and Kung Fu Panda 3. And well, there is not only CGI. Laika's movies are stop-motion, DC's animated movies are hand-drawn. And almost all cartoons for TV that i mentioned are hand-drawn, only few of them made in flash and one is CGI.

This is not the English dubbed version I remember. It was serialized and broadcast on children's after school TV shows and retained much of the original background music albeit not the singing. Some segments just had narration.
