The train crash scene was famously (at the time) made by crashing a real train, no CGI. After filming, instead of cleaning up the wreckage, the locals turned it into a movie museum that you can visit today.

Today the scenes of action movies are so boring, pure CGI, they look like a video game, that's why I miss the 80s and 90s, that in the absence of that technology they had to film the scenes in a real way like the train crash in this movie and I remember in Demolition Man and Lethal Weapon 3 exploding and demolishing real buildings in scenes of those movies and in Face Off and Speed crashing and exploding real airplanes. Times that will never come back, filming in that way is too expensive for today and with CGI they prefer to go easy and less expensive. That's why these old movies are relics of a way of filming that no longer exists.

The "I don't care" line was invented by Tommy Lee Jones. The original line was something else (Jones would try and appease Ford's character instead, since he had a gun pointed at him), but Jones thought it would better fit his character to reply: "I don't care". Which kind of summed up his personality and mission a lot better. He wasn't there to put Ford on trial. He was there to catch a fugitive. I love that, for most of this movie, there isn't really even an antagonist. Tommy Lee Jone's character isn't a bad guy. And if we didn't know that Harrison Ford was innocent, Jones would actually be viewed as the protagonist. The fact that both characters are portrayed in a sympathetic light, and both of them are likable was well executed. It would have been easy to have a cliche of an merciless, villainous, corrupt cop coming after him. Or, and perhaps worse, a cop that was complacent or unintelligent. But Tommy Lee Jones, while certainly driven, is none of those things. And Jones' performance was incredible; he stole this whole movie, and how good does your performance has to be to steal the show from Harrison Ford?

There's a story that the TV show had an alternate ending that was never shown. In the ending that was shown, the real killer has been found, and Dr Kimble and the detective are walking on the beach. The detective and him talk for a while, him saying it must be nice to finally have his name cleared, then the detective walks away, leaving the Dr. to walk off alone as the sun sets. The alternate ending is supposedly the same, except that after the detective leaves, Dr. Kimble removes his prosthetic arm and smiles. The story goes that the producers had the episode screen tested, and the test audience were so outraged they decided to never show it or even talk about it again.

15:55 The most dangerous part of this whole thing is the dive off the dam, its hard to tell the height but I'd say that aspect is borderline survivable with the air bubbles at the bottom disturbing the surface and sort of making the water less buoyant (less impact I assume) BUT that stuff created a underwater current that makes it borderline impossible to swim out from it because it keeps sucking you back in and underwater and many people have died from that stuff and my uncle was almost included in that. When he was I think a young teenager he and some people were fishing at a dam here in central texas and he slipped off and wasn't really injured but got stuck in that underwater current for awhile and kept trying to swim up but kept getting pulled down until he decided to let it take him to almost to the bottom and then swim all the way to the bottom (I think its max like 20ft but still) then he swam along the bottom and away from the damn then surfaced and was fine besides looking like a ghost according to the people that were there and said he was like pure white and looked scared as hell. He even said that's the worse situation he was ever in and that's saying something considering around the same time (shortly after I believe) he got in a severe dirt bike accident with a few of his friends at night where 2 crashed into each other and then he and another friend crashed into them looking for them and all were seriously injured like at least one nearly died and all were bad but all fully recovered besides my uncle who somehow ripped the nerves out from the right side of his spine or something like that causing his right arm to lose all function and almost all sensation but somehow not need amputation considering he still just wears it in a sling 40 years later. It causes some (dark humor) funny moments though like he loves grilling so he sometimes (as in multiple times) has not been paying attention and had his right arm in the sling pushed up against the metal on a hot grill while grilling and severely burnt his arm but also not felt a thing and he's done this so many times that some of his arm slings still have burn marks lmao

This is based on the sixties tv show, THE FUGITIVE, which was largely based on the Cleveland murder case of the pregnant wife of Dr. Sam Sheppard, July 3rd, 1954. She was bludgeoned to death in the bedroom while he was napping on a downstairs daybed. He awoke to the sounds of her distress and rushed upstairs half-asleep to glimpse a figure and began to wrestle with it but was struck unconscious. He was found guilty in Dec. that same year and sentenced to Life. It was highly publicized, even again when it was retried on appeal in 1966 and (luckily?) his attorney died and the case was taken up by F. Lee Bailey, who attempted to discredit every one of the prosecution's witnesses, thereby getting the coroner to admit he had no idea what the murder weapon was and had nothing to tie Sheppard to the crime. Blood-spatter evidence indicated the killer was L-handed and Sheppard was R. The jury deliberated 12 hours and rendered a not guilty verdict. 3 weeks after the trial Sheppard appeared on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. His surgical skills deteriorated, largely because he became an alcoholic. He even had two patients die on the operating table when an artery was nicked in each case. He became a pro wrestler (Killer Sam Sheppard) in 1969 at age 45. He drank as much as 2 fifths of liquor a day. He died of Liver Failure at age 46. In 1997 DNA testing finally absolved him of the murder. RIP Sam Sheppard.

Tommy Kee Jones's character would not be concerned about being told "I didn’t kill my wife". As far as everyone in law enforcement is concerned, Richard is a lawfully convicted murderer. Plus, criminals do lie all the time about being innocent. Being on this fugitive apprehension team, his job isn’t to investigate crime. His only job is to track down and apprehend runsway criminals. If he got caught, Richard would have needed to get a lawyer willing to investigate his claim. That's the way the justice system works. Even if it's an incorrect verdict, once you are legally convicted, you are rightfully treated by everyone in law enforcement as guilty.

I would figure that Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones _had_ to have gotten along fairly well. Because it seems to me, in order for two people to have good _on-screen_ chemistry with others, they should have good _general_ chemistry with others. It seems to me, people who don't have a knack for making friends probably don't make for very good actors.

The lawyer recording they listented to it most likely wasn't law enforcement who recorded it. No Judge is gonna approve a warrant to tap a lawyer phone on a he might call if he's alive. Lawyers can record your call in some states without you knowing it one party rule. Then turn it over as the crime/fraud exception to privilege convo to keep from being charged aiding and abetting

The train wreck wasn't faked. They actually crashed a train into a bus on an unused piece of track. The wreck is still there in Dillsboro, North Carolina, and is now a tourist attraction.

This was based off a TV series, same plot. Man on the run for murdering his wife, as a fugitive he is also a hero as he goes from town to town. Agent Gerard on his tails, appearing every few episodes, making those episodes special. And the One Armed Man, the grand antagonist, appearing in extra special episodes as he is who Dr. Kimble is trying to find. This film was a great nod to what made the TV series special.

It is hilarous to see American FBI/CIA/DEA/MARSHALLS/WHATEVER searching for him, in Germany it would be just the Police and the BKA searching for him.... always that "D**K comparison between those state authorities.
