Stuff like lava serpent make the game just unbearable to deal with. In chime it’s whatever but in overworld it’s a problem. The game is dying and I don’t think it’s a lack of content. The gap for skill is being closed by effortless mantras. Pressing a button and high chance of landing. I.e dawnwalker. High aoe and autotracking. People just don’t feel the need to put in effort in a game that means nothing. If the game was more skill based. I would remove a majority of mantras. (Rapid slashes, all dawnwalker moves, all moves that ragdoll the target giving them a free window of being attacked. Fast moves are fine. If they come out almost instantly that’s okay. As long as you can’t just throw them out. I.e astral wind and revenge. Astral you need to feint their roll and make them think. Revenge is for catching and a combo extender. But if you aren’t careful people expect it and you miss.

I really liked old exo, on one hand it was super op but on the other hand it was horrible you, if it was in the game now you could tank eclipse kick but say rapid punches would shred you in an instant be neat if they re added in in some extent (as a differnt tallent of cource it would mess up existing builds otherwise)

no matter what happens to the path, by far the worst part about playing against lava eruption is the visuals. they didnt even attempt to tone it down with photosensitive mode, you just aren't able to play the game. you can't see anything, meaning you can't parry, and trying to hold block doesn't help because you just get blockbroken by the explosions, leading to more explosions. they seriously need a way to turn down the effects, as well as giving them some kind of telegraph. at some points, it feels like explosions happen just to happen, not because i got hit by anything in particular.

Photosensitive mode isn’t made for you to see less effects? It’s made for people with those kinda problems to not have a seizure from playing deepwoken. If they do tone down eruption effects it shouldn’ve be exclusive to turning on photosensitive mode.

not to downplay it but honestly, as is, photosensitive mode doesnt do anything for photosensitivity. it just desaturates dawnwalker colors, which doesnt make them any less flashy, but actually makes them brighter in comparison. its a really poorly implemented feature

the issue is mainly gravity field, to make a quick fix they should make so you can't proc lava serpent or floor is lava/ use certain moves during gravity field (this can also apply to those frost mages with gravity field)

Imo the original Lose your Mind was the most broken talent in the entire game. At max insanity, it gave you a LITERAL 2x damage boost back when damage boosts were MULTIPLICATIVE and uncapped. This meant you could easily 2-3 shot people with the right talents, enchants, and c-slots or windup. Now its a fragment of its former self, unfazed/insanity has been nerfed, and its damage buff is small and no longer linear. I'm surprised no one talks about how crazy the damage or builds you could make in old deepwoken.

ive been lava serpent path main since it came out, its sad to see how braindead it is now, there was someone camping the elevator in the depths with lava serpent floor is lava fan the flames build + mecha gatling, and he literally managed to boss raid me and my friends, I'm not insane at the game or anything but the other two were 1500 and 1700 elo respectively, that shouldnt be possible to press a couple buttons and win against genuinely skilled players 💀

Imo eruption isn't that broken, gravity just makes it OP, they should either remove or rework gravity, it's a dumb bell, other examples of certain things becoming overly broken inside gravity bells are ice fissure, grand suda crit, shadow vortex, etc.

People are going to be creative. It’s just they keep adding to attunements that are already solid. Flamecharm and thundercall get the most love it seems in terms of not wanting to rebalance or touch too much. IMO they should make ash slam more hard to get. Remove lava serpent (sadly). And just come up with a new path. We learned a lot from the path but I think it’s time to just cut it out entirely.

Rn those builds are (I tried) REALLY HARD to do, and tedious, u need level upgrade mantras (9k money or even more like 11k, counting modifiers and that) get gravity field, do shrine of order successfully, get all talents, get a railblade with good dmg stars, get nice armor and HP kit (cuz that build type is glass canon) and a lot of more things

Balance change idea for eruption path: -An eruption can only be proced once every 2.5 seconds, even with blazing -The first hit of the eruption no longer insta posture breaks -The second hit deals 20 true damage and insta posture breaks to make up for the nerf -The fast burning ring will reduce the damage of the eruption by 5 but make the second eruption come out sooner
