Feel free to skip to 8:30 to skip my yap and filming. Some extra notes about the information: (1) Some of y’all who are historically may be learned may be quick to jump to say the New York Central Railroad was founded in the 1850s. However, I put on the screen the New York Central System, which was actually founded as the New York Central Lines following a bunch of mergers in the 1910s and then later rebranded into the New York Central System in the 1930s. Since this New York trackage was known as the New York Central System when important stuff happened, I just combined the dates. (2) The Atlanta and Lagrange Railroad actually took seven years to hit West Point, GA, so it technically reached its terminus in 1854 but then was rebranded in 1857. (3) The Clinchfield Railroad wasn’t known as the Clinchfield Railroad until 1924, when the ACL placed the Carolina, Clinchfield, and Ohio railroad under the holding company, “Clinchfield Railroad.” (4) I spelled “Fredericksburg” wrong on the timeline. My fault. 😂 (5) The dashed lines on the map are parts that CSX doesn't own. Some of it is shortline owned and some of it is passenger owned. If you got any more info or concerns my comments are open.

Great video. If you do a NS video I would recommend mentioning Conrail Shared Assets as technically in South Jersey, Pennsylvania and Michigan conrail is still around tho primarily in south Jersey.

The Lackawanna Railroad logo is wrong as it represents the present day shortline instead of the predecessor (Delaware, Lackawanna *and Western*), but this is otherwise a minute detail when compared to the rest of this amazing video. Keep up the great work! (See my other comment for more details)

(HEEEEES BACKKKKK!) but on a serious note, when CSX units had stickers on it like 3173, 5500, 3440, railfanners didn’t like it that much. And when they revealed the B&O unit somewhere between February and march of last year, people seems to like it, others don’t, and then it loops over when a new heritage unit is revealed. This is why you have to listen to your fans. (Extra: I want NS to make a heritage unit of the TA&G railway)

CSX just released the Clinchfield Heritage Unit this past week. A lot of the old Clinchfield RR got wiped out in TN and NC from Helene. They’re actually running a special holiday train to Erwin, TN with the Clinchfield HU leading to help support the communities where the tracks are still intact. It’s also gonna lead the CSX Santa Train that same weekend along the line.

Great video, but at the logo and picture you used for the DL&W is for the modern day Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad, a short line based in Scranton, PA which is around today, which is not the same as the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad, the former Class I railroad which became part of Erie Lackawanna and later Conrail. Also, with the Pan Am acquisition, some of Pan Am’s trackage was part of something called Pan Am Southern. Pan Am Southern was a joint venture between Pan Am Railways and Norfolk Southern, and NS ran a couple run through trains onto PAS trackage. As part of the CSX acquisition, Pan Am (now CSX)s share of Pan Am Southern went to Genesee & Wyoming, and made the new Berkshire & Eastern Railroad, a G&W railroad that now runs all of the PAS trackage. Great video in general, lots of history and it is very good

Excellent video and much appreciated. Now, as a good subscriber to this fine channel, I will now pontificate my vast knowledge and mastery of the subject at hand (disclaimer; I am being totally silly here). So with regards to Chessie System Inc., the C&O bought out B&O's controlling stake of the Western Maryland Railway which ceased to be an" operating rail entity" in May of 1983. The B&O did, however, take over the WM's remaining operations. CSXT Transportation was actually created on July 1st of 1986 by the renaming of the Seaboard System Railroad. By Apriil 30, 1987, the C&O completed its acquisition of the B&O and by the end of August that year, the mighty Chesapeake &Ohio Railway was formally absorbed into CSXT. Also of note: Chessie System Inc. (as well as SCLI) basically ceased to exist with the formation of CSX Corp. in 1989, but since the railroads were not combined, Chessie System was essentially a marque of CSX Corp.
