For this video I take a couple of steps back from motorcycles and address something that has created a mini discussion on MCrider. Many of you have asked what is wrong with my left eye. In this video I answer the question and tell you a little of the story about me.
It was kind of weird opening up so much on camera and kind of long winded...but you are the ones who asked the question, so it's not my fault.
Grab some popcorn and sit back as I tell you the story of my freaky eye.

Being taught how to ride from the other side of the world by a Texan baseball playing combat priest...This is why the internet is great! Dude I love the eye, it locks you into a cowboy stare and helps with your natural ability to hold peoples attention. I have learned so much from this channel. You may not be saving lives in the army but you sure are here with educating us all on how to stay safe. Amazing work man. Once I pay off a bit of my new bike I will drop some cash on supporting the show. Keep staring em down Tex. Coming at you all the way from New Zealand.

We are big on slang and nick names for our friends so consider yourself dubbed The Braaap Chaplain. Keep up the good fight. We appreciate what you are doing.

I, too, returned to motorcycling after a long time off a bike. I immediately appreciated both your delivery and your innate humility. You’re a kind man, and it comes through. I’ve learned a LOT about safety on my bike from you.- so yes, you’re making a difference, Kevin. That’s not an exaggeration. Thanks for modeling your humility and comfort with yourself with your story. I’ll continue to recommend your channel to to others.

"God didn’t keep Daniel from the lion’s den; He met him in it. He didn’t keep Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego from the fiery furnace; He joined them in it. He didn’t keep Joseph from being a slave to Potiphar; He gave him favor in it. And He met him in the prison as well. The proof in knowing you are where God wants you to be in your detour is that God doesn’t deliver you from it but rather joins you in it." Tony Evans

The details and the connections between different parts as well as the build, the a pax, till the satisfyingly end. It was amazing listening to you tell your story. Write it in a book it will become best seller. Maybe even a movie. Trust me, it is worth it.

I must admit, as an atheist, I almost stopped watching when God's name cropped up. But I've watched a few of your videos and consider you an articulate and intelligent guy, so I watched to the end, out of respect for the great job you're doing. As it happens, I found your story very interesting. I commend you for your bravery in sharing both your story and your beliefs and share your happiness that you discovered another path to a fulfilling life. I've been riding bikes for over 40 yrs, here in the UK, but I'm still picking up useful tips watching your videos. So, good luck for the future, and keep them coming. Respect.

Hey David, thanks for watching to the end. I'm glad you did. Not because I want to try to convince you of anything but because it is refreshing for someone to listen these days even when they don't agree. Thank you for not following the norms these days and only listening to what you agree with. I believe it is only by listening to each other that we can see the heart of the other person. Even if we don't agree with how they got to where they are we can at least respect their motivation for getting there. You are a good man! Glad to have you as a subscriber.

Dear Sir/MCrider, Thank you so much for this video. It is truly a great story full of life's milestones: heartbreak, love, fulfillment, goals, struggle, etc. I am so glad I found out about your channel. I love your calm demeanor. I, like David Green, am an atheist. Growing up, I wasn't really raise to believe a religious doctrine. Then I became a very strong Christian for 10 years or so (~15-25 y.o.?). But now, on a scale of 1-7, would say that I tend towards 6.75 as an atheist). Anyhow, both your two comments are great examples of conversation without demeaning the other. Anyhow, my real question is, I have been riding for around 3.75 months now. I had the idea when I first started motorcycling those few months ago, that I would get the very basics of motorcycle control (balance, clutch, braking, etc.), and then I would take an MSF course. My thinking was that I didn't want to be distracted by the super basic things, and miss the real great tips I could learn from the course. Now that I am quite comfortable with riding, I'm starting to doubt a need for taking a course (at least the Basic course). Maybe I should take a more advanced course? But you have thrown a "wrench" into that idea, too. My thinking is that I should be able to get all I need to know from online resources, and channels such as yours. What is your opinion on this? Thank you, huyked
@bmfilmnut
@bmfilmnut 7 жыл бұрын
I almost stopped watching his videos for the same reason. I don't like people preaching their religion to me either. But, unlike you, I didn't find his story interesting at all. In fact, I found it bizarre and a bit creepy. I watched it because it was so weird that I had to see where it was going. When he sticks to motorcycle technique, his videos are good but I'm not sure I can watch them anymore after seeing this. David: I suggest that you keep your religion to yourself and stick to motorcycle technique. You are good at that. The fact that you feel that you must spill your guts to total strangers and post your life story under the guise of a video about an eye condition is very odd. It's misleading too. It says something a bit disturbing about you.

Exactly the same here. I don't know if it's unusual for an antheist but I have quite a few religious friends, so I know most Christians aren't sience denying, pious, self righteous dicks, but it's always nice to meet someone who lives the "Word" even if I don't believe in it. Respect man

I would recommend taking the course anyway. I took it, although I had slightly less time on the bike than you. It was an awesome experience. Some of the info was stuff I already knew, but there were great tips, hands on exercises done with experienced riders to critique and improve your skills, and it gave me a definite increase in confidence. Totally worth the money, even if I had to scrimp for it.

I am a 57-year-old woman and I have been riding exclusively for the last 6 years. I have no car, just the bike. And even though it is my sole transportation for all the mundane things in life, like grocery shopping, I still get so excited everytime I get to ride! It is a passion. I, too, am a Christian and I, too, have a freaky eye. Three years ago I inexplicably lost sight in my right eye. I went through brain surgery (I don't recommend it!) and am still blind (i see a little of my periphery) and that eye is not the same as my left either. I love your videos. I am always looking for ways to improve as a rider, so thanks for the tips!

The lack of humility in our world is at times overwhelming and this video gives me some comfort that there are humble folks "online". I am a Pastor so I really appreciate your being open about your Christianity and your calling and totally understand your need to fill that gap and do what God would have you to do! Thank you Kevin for sharing your story and letting all of us get to know you as a person and what makes you tic! I’ve watched some of your other video’s prior to this one, and they have helped me become a better, safer rider. Trying to keep things brief I simply commented on them “Thank you”. Little did I know that watching this video would also impact my life. You have greatly inspired me today. But not because you are overcoming a tragic accident, defying your handicap, and accomplishing goals you have set. It’s because you exemplify a characteristic that you never mention in this video, as you humbly told your story. Yet you have displayed this characteristic throughout your high school days to present day. “Courage”! You have tremendous courage, to never give in to your fears, whether it be schooling, physical challenges at boot camp, serving our country in the Army, or not giving up on yourself after a serious injury. When you felt weak, you dug deep within yourself and became stronger! I’m not saying you did all of this alone, you know faith, family, and friends play an important role. But without having tremendous courage you would not be the person you have became today! Again, thank you! I look forward to your continued educational videos.

Thanks for sharing your story, brother. The 33 min video flew right by - I couldn't stop watching and listening. It takes courage to be vulnerable and share so openly. Well done. I sincerely hope that the MC Rider phenomenon can be a full-time career for you.

Thank you so much for your story (and of course all of the rest of your videos, I'll get my license in the best of ways = through practice riding with both body and mind). I'm so happy for you finding a second call in life; you have thought us a lot of lessons through this video. Thanks again and I promise to never forget your way of taking on struggles in life. Didn't expect that impact. Greetings from Sweden

Thank you Kevin, I really enjoyed this video and can understand the wrench of losing the military career being ex British Army myself. I didn't find at any time during the video the need to skip forward. Now subscribed. I've only been riding for 3 years and I'm into my early 50's. Keep up the good work as I believe no matter how much experience someone has we are always learning. For what it's worth I watched a few of your videos before this one and didn't even notice 'the eye'. Cheers.

Wow! What an incredible inspiration you are to the people who are fans of your channel. I only discovered it about 20 days ago and I am a brand new Rider at age 59. I just completed the rider safety course and find your content invaluable. You story moved me to tears. You deserve any and all success that comes your way. Stay healthy and stay vigilant out there. I'm glad you found happiness in something that benefits so many. God bless.

I'm so glad you had done this video. I sincerely appreciate your dedication to sharing your riding knowledge/skills with us all. I'm a new rider and have referred to your videos many times these past few weeks and will continue to do so. From one veteran to another, thank you for your service. Although it short lived, knowing your personality that I've seen on many videos, I do not doubt you influenced some people in your lives then. I don't know why things happen as they do sometimes, yet, somehow it lead to us all to this moment. And I would hope we are all better for it. Maybe God has allowed you to save many lives in other ways. God Bless you Kevin and us all.

Tonight as I was searching looking for videos to help me do training. I came up on one of your videos and i have watched several of them today and I didn't even notice your eye. I started watching gear and gadgets when you mentioned your eye and I was like well whats wrong?? I think I was listening more to your message and what you are trying to teach. Regardless thanks for sharing it is inspiring and carries a great message to continue searching and not to give up. Keep up the good work and I look forward to many more video's. One more thing THANK YOU for your service!

Amen brother. I spent years in the fire department working as a Firefighter/EMT it was my calling just like the military was to you. Due to a birth defect in my heart we did not know I had, two heart operations and another severe line of duty injury I am no longer in the fire department and I am very much like you looking for my next calling. I have problems with fears and anxieties after my experiences as a fire department but I love to ride and ride most of the time even on the winter. It relaxes me and I have found no better place to pray and be honest with Good than on the driver's seat of a motorcycle. I'm still looking for my next calling, God willing I'll find it one day

Just found this channel a few days ago, and I think I've watched half the videos already. Bought my first adventure bike (and first real street bike) about 6 months ago, and have absolutely loved it. Went on a motorcycle trip in the mountains with a few buddies last weekend, and it was the best trip I've ever been on. Following experienced street riders made me realize how much I need more training, and this channel is absolutely perfect. Love your story, Kevin, and am extremely thankful for your heart for training and service to your fellow rider. Bravo!

Kevin, Thank you for that wonderful story of the eye and your journey to “MC Rider”. I stopped riding back in 2008. Recently, I’m back riding again. Your videos are a god send and masterfully explained with the tactics and do’s don’ts and never should do. I never understood why I had this driving force to get back on until your story. I to miss the military excitement. Now, I live it through the eyes of my son. Thank you for your instruction and hopefully we will see each other on the road. God bless and you have my subscription.

Kevin, just got back into riding at 57 after thirty-five years away. I thought i was a good self taught rider back then, but your videos over the last month have really helped me get back and do it right. I’m just back from Sunday morning practice ride (when the traffic is low) and watched the “eye” video. Its a great story. Thanks for the videos and keep up the good work. I’ll be watching.

One of YOUR BEST VIDEOS by far!!! I've spent half of my life in Army and I could tell you were a Veteran as well. I also took my MSF Basic and Advanced MC classes at Ft Hood. Thanks again, Coach! I'm making my way over to your website to support.

It is amazing to hear your background in life and the unfortunate event about your eye. I have watched hours of you videos and always learning something after each episode even after riding for over forty years. As you have said in the past the day you think you know it all will be the day someone proves you wrong. I find the way you talk and your presentation very calming and informative. 👍

Thank you for making such great videos. I am so thankful that there are KZbinrs like you that focus on how to be a safe rider. Too many channels focus on the "cool" factor of motorcycles and completely ignore the safety aspect. Many of us have families and friends we cherish and want to spend our lives with. Being safe allows us to continue these lifelong relationships with those we love.

I just want to thank you for sharing yr story. I am hoping to take up riding soon. I came across yr channel and was immediately drawn to yr easy style of teaching. It's taken me till 54 yrs of age to do this. I also have a left eye damage and its like looking through a smear of vaseline. I also struggled with school and the teaching method. Funnily I now work in a primary School in the office. Anyway yr story and teaching has encouraged me to persue what has been inside of me all of this time waiting to burst out. Thank you. 🏍🕇

Kevin, I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate you and what you do. Ive avoided up until now watching this particular video, but I so glad I have. Hearing your story shared the way you did, brought me to tears, but also a sense of joy.Losing something you wanted so dearly was something a 'lot of people don't recover from. I am so pleased you have now found your new calling. I live in Australia and a former rider as I had an accident many years ago that took me off the bike for a while. Then life and family got in the way and I have not been on a bike since. Well, I now find myself in my mid 50's and I figured I would never get back on again, but since I have found this you tube channel, Im considering starting again.. Im now an avid watcher and will continue to be..Thanks for being there and sharing.

That was 30 minutes of my life........ that was really well spent!! :) Yes, in the beginning I was wondering why so long, but it all came together, it all made sense. It was in many ways a beautiful story, but in the end it also became a story about riding. We all ride for different reasons. Some just because it is "oool". Some because it is practical. But many of us have - for different reasons - love, soul and stories invested in it, and sometimes it is difficult to put your finger on why it actually matters so much. Your story made me love riding even more, made me love my motorcycle a little more, and life a little more :) Thank you!!
