SPOILERS Having just played Borderlands 3 here are some things moving forward or made cannon from Tales: -Zer0 is confirmed as being in the last mission, as they have stuck together and are bros - A.I. Handsome Jack is kept alive, from Tales to BL3 he was installed in a legendary SMG called the "Handsome Jackhammer" -Rhys and Sasha are shipped, while she has gone off the radar Rhys has her picture on his desk -Vaghn has led numerous bandit groups and is now in the current Crimson Raiders, and is still uncomfortably fit.

If I were Rhys and I had to rip out my eye and my arm, I'd be shrieking like a banshee the whole way. I'm sure Rhys was screaming on the inside, but damn, that dude's got an iron constitution. Nope, unless there is an echo I missed or something in 3 then nothing yet. It's a long shot, but I personally hope it has something to do with the war mentioned in the Pre-Sequel and Rhys is secretly gearing Atlas up for it, and Fiona, Sasha, Loader and Gortys are off vault hunting in preparation. This could end up being the plot of 4. Like I said, huge long shot, but a man can dream.

Man, borderlands 3 would have been much better had they not tried to intertwine the telltale series into it. Leave it as its own thing and keep the characters separate for the most part. Part of what makes borderlands games fun is how they have inside jokes that only those who have played prior borderlands will get. I have 800+ hours among the 4 borderlands titles by gearbox, yet I was fucked over because of some interactive telltale series? Throughout the game other characters keep talking about Rhys mustache and there's no prior knowledge for anyone who has played the borderlands series to understand why people are talking about his stache. Then there's jokes about Fiona and what not. Atleast with her, she took a backseat role, but man they sure forced Rhys on the player. I don't mind that he's in the game, I mind that he took higher precedence over pre-existing characters like Axton or Salvador. Hell those two didn't even make it into BL3. They really dropped the ball by not focusing/using characters from the actual borderlands titles.

What I loved about borderlands 2 and the pre-sequel was all the inside jokes that only someone would get if played the prior installment. They could have implemented Rhys without any inside jokes and use fresh content, but they didn't. They pulled the same trick and thus everyone who didn't play TTS had a flat face everytime they had some corny inside joke. Typically I'd laugh at those kinds of things, but because I didn't play some SLOW PACED indie game, I'm treated as an outsider. They completely botched the way they handled implementing him into BL3.

noobhealz402 I see your point but Borderlands world is getting bigger, it’s not just a video game series anymore it’s a growing franchise. Mortal kombat did this too and released comics and other medium to tell the story, and mortal Kombat 10 referenced the comics a lot. But if you didn’t read them, you didn’t know what happened. If you really love the borderlands franchise and world you gotta keep up with it. Not everything is gonna be handed to you through the main games anymore it looks like. Most of it will, but not Rhys and all the cool characters from the tellatale spinoff.

@@PegasiJay It's not changing. They created 1 indie game spin off and look at that company, it went out of business. The average gamer doesn't enjoy a slow paced interactive story game. If they did, TTS wouldn't have gone out of business. Gearbox felt pressure that they needed to release something or else people would begin to forget about them. I have no issue with Rhys, I just have an issue with how they implemented him, hell it even hurt Zero aswell. As someone who leveled zero to 72, listened to audio logs in BL2, I felt like I would know Zero pretty well. While he didn't provide much of a personality in BL2, I couldn't help but wonder how much they extracted from the TTS game. Either way, gearbox has only made FPS-RPG borderlands games and nothing else.
