What a great idea to do a funniest books video. Hardly anyone does these, and we could certainly all use more humor in our lives. Thanks!

Not a current book, but, in the spirit of Wodehouse, I'd suggest Stella Gibbons's Cold Comfort Farm from the 1930's.

Well Eric, I haven't read any of the books, but your intro was hilarious. Bollinger take note. Interesting note re Alderton.

When you mentioned Lucille Bluth I freaked out as if I was Lucille and I saw Gene Parmesan. Also your synopsis of Destination Wedding by Diksha Basu reminded me of the show Never Have I Ever on Netflix!

Thanks for highlighting this prize. I'd like the crate of Bolli, not too sure about the piglet.

One book I can recommend is "Meandering Sobriety". Although it's a philosophical book, it is a bit humorous and still thought-provoking. The book is a series of funny and thought-stimulating stories that will help you have a moment of escape from hustle reality to see and understand it deeper. It can also bring you some LOL moments as well. Most importantly, it's short and can be completed in a day.

Very efficient video: 10 minutes ago I didn't know this prize existed, now I know the prize, the shortlist and the winner. The last time I had to cry from laughing was with The Heavenly Table by Donald Ray Pollock.

Try to read The Hearts Invisible Furies by John Boyne. I had tons of fun from that book. Such a delight to read! Thanks for this video!

Thanks! Yes, Boyne's novel is excellent and I loved the character of Maude in particular. I wrote about the book here: lonesomereader.com/blog/2017/2/8/the-hearts-invisible-furies-by-john-boyne

Cool video 😁👍 I love the enthusiasm with which you talk about books. 2 books I've read that made me laugh out loud are "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" by Douglas Adams, and "Three Men in a Boat" by Jerome K. Jerome.

I loved this video. I know I need to read some serious stuff but I also desperately need comic relief. I’ve put ALL of these books on my TBR.

Even though I have not read any of the books listed, based off of the description for accidental collectors was the winner. Definitely will be checking out these books!. Also do you have a list of books that you have read that have mixed reviews? For example Luster is definitely a book that you either loved or hated. I personally disliked the book

If you wish to know why the Bollinger Everyman Wodehouse Prize committee give a piglet as part of their annual award you will want to read the works of PG Wodehouse, who invents the comic novel. If you would like not to come across an 8 year-old eager to be mistaken for a purveyor of the comic novel you will want to read the works of PG Wodehouse, who invents the comic novel. Read PG Wodehouse--and, no, don't settle for watching the films instead or you'll never understand.

I think 🤔 I have an odd sense of humour. Often books that are said to be funny don’t make me laugh. I prefer books that mix drama with touches of humour. The book that made me laugh and cry is The Van by Roddy Doyle

I think you might really enjoy Virginia Woolf’s short (and easy enough to find) parody of her Victorian family history, Freshwater. It’s utterly charming and a side of Woolf and her Bloomsbury crowd not often included in her larger ouvre. It completely lampoons Watts and is a refreshingly hilarious look at the artist/muse relationship. Love this video and all the suggestions in the comments.

Oh that's interesting! I've never known what that book is about. Sounds great and refreshingly different from Woolf.

Funny books are my favorite and they aren’t very popular right now. Comedy in general is non existent in our culture. I find it so weird. I also find it near impossible to find a good funny book. Very frustrating! Thank you though!

I used to like Barry’s dry sense of humour in his videos. Most of the time, he appears to despise the books that everyone else enjoys, or the other way around.🤷♂️
