If you enjoyed Rising Damp, you must try The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, which also stars Leonard Rossiter before he died all too early.

To your inextinguishable shame, you presume that I haven’t gorged on Reggie Perrin already! I didn’t get where I am today by not gorging on Reggie Perrin already! (“Sorry CJ”)

Read from this today; in moorcock’s Mother London: “it was not long before Reeny Fox, clad in a kind of Hawaiian muu-muu made of purple and green deckchair fabric, greeted them glass in hand without surprise.”

Oh dear. Please ,watch the Good Old Days, a programme depicting the days of the music hall, and discover how the compere uses language to create a content of verbalisation that you are attempting and failing in dismally
@JoeSpivey02Ай бұрын
I have it on grand and aged authority that my “verbalisation” is good enough thank you very much. At least it satisfied your petty ego to wade in with a puerile comment. I hope you’re receiving the care you need at this difficult time.

I watched Rising Damp every week it was shown during the seventies and absolutely loved it. Richard Beckinsale also starred, along with Ronnie Barker, in what I believe is the greatest UK sitcom ever: Porridge.
@JoeSpivey02Ай бұрын
Porridge is funny AND clearly possesses that most handy tool - a social message!

Nice how Don Warrington (Philip Smith) turns up as Commissioner Selwyn Patterson in Death in Paradise, decades later.

Obligatory, but it's so infamous that I quote it and share memes about it post.

Been watching Rising Damp lately Joe very funny 😂😂😂😂 !!!!!!!! Xxxx

You may not have heard of it, but it's considered a classic by millions of people. But then. youre just a child.
@JoeSpivey02Ай бұрын
I've known about and loved it since the age of five. The sole purpose of this video was to spread that awareness to as many people as possible. Try not be too foolish and cantankerous in your old age!

6:16 You know how to make your viewers feel old --- talking of such well-known series as Rising Damp as if they were unknown! And what's this about "briefly"?? It ran for 4 series.
@JoeSpivey02Ай бұрын
It might be a staple in the diets of many, but I'd doubt that ANYONE below the age of 40 would name Rising Damp if asked to list 10 former sitcoms. Quite why everyone has a bee in their bonnet over my comments - when the majority of my coverage was a zealous celebration - I simply don't know.

Have you seen Yes, Minister?

Absolutely! Although, I must say I prefer the modern iteration - The Thick Of It!

Why would you lead off with that ridiculous statement? I was just yesterday reading about Rising Damp in The Guardian. Yuck Foo.
@JoeSpivey02Ай бұрын
Do you kiss loved ones with that mouth? 😅I'm not saying that it's as parochially strange as Georgian embroidery, I merely wanted to bring it to the attention of some Americans who might be cruelly ignorant of its beauty!
@davidhull1481Ай бұрын
@ Maybe you should title it as the funniest sitcom that Americans have never heard of. And yes I do kiss my loved ones. My beef is that you’re another example of people who put a hyped up title that isn’t reflected in the video. Always with the superlatives, you lot.
@JoeSpivey02Ай бұрын
@@davidhull1481Ohhhhh my rotten superlatives! How could I be so thoughtless? I hope you're receiving the care you need at this most difficult time.

@ You have an interesting way of attracting listeners. Or is it a calculated way of scoring points with your bros wearing backwards baseball caps? Who also listen to Joe Rogan and Andrew Tate?
@JoeSpivey02Ай бұрын
@ hehe! Now I know for certain that you’ve never listened to a word I’ve said. I don’t waste one second of time thinking about those kids in baseball caps who idolise Rogan. He and Tate are complete conspiracy-besotted fools for whom I have nothing but the utmost contempt!
