THE FUNNY SIDE OF ELVIS PRESLEY :D
- PART 1 -
This video contains three dialogues between Elvis and his audience - and also with his band - during the show that he did in College Park, Maryland, on September 28, 1974.
Here you can hear how Elvis liked to have fun on stage. It is still not an official release by the way...
Some websites tell Elvis was on drugs during that evening. It is not my opinion. Indeed, if we except some marihuana taken during the 1950s and only one experience on LSD with Priscilla in the 1960s, Elvis never did drugs in the 1970s. I'd better say that he was under the effect of his medical prescriptions.
Elvis didn't act differently in every show that he did during that September-October 1974 tour. You can hear it in the FTD release "Dragon Heart", recorded on October 1st 1974 in South Bend, Indianna...
I still wonder why some fans still don't accept that Elvis acted sometimes like Jim Morrison or Serge Gainsbourg !
I had the opportunity to meet the TCB Band twice in Paris, in 2002 and 2003. During the second meeting, after the show, I could speak longer with the guys of the crew (James Burton, Jerry Scheff, Ronnie Tutt, Glen D. Hardin & The Imperials). And as I knew James Burton was the only one of them who did all the shows with Elvis, without exception, from 1969 to 1977, I asked him about the College Park concert. At first he said that he didn't remember it. But when I quoted Elvis he answered : "It was the way of Elvis to have fun with the audience".
The first time I met Elvis' musicians it was great and very impressive ! Scotty Moore was there and he played with Jerry Scheff and Glen D. Hardin for the very first time ! When they begun one of the classic songs, they made two false starts. Then Scotty complained to Jerry and Glen : "Look what Elvis and you made with my chords during the Seventies !!!" It was very funny ! :D
After the show, I gave my videocamera to Jerry Scheff and he filmed me in company of Scotty and Glen. And Scotty showed his middle finger to the camera ! :D I Wonder if Elvis wouldn't do the same...
It was great too when I met Sonny West, Myrna Smith from The Sweet Inspirations and Ed Bonja in Berlin, in 2007. Sonny spoke about his life with Elvis, he answered some questions and made some pictures with us. Myrna even took my 3 years old son on her knees for a photo ! They are all very friendly guys, I tell you ! ;)
LONG LIVE ELVIS !
*** As my video was too long for KZbin (around 12:30), I had to cut it in two parts. But you can see it in its integrality in Dailymotion, in the following link :

I am 48 years old.Me, and my 3 siblings were raised up listing to Elvis. My Mother introduced us to the soulful rocking Elvis, while our Father introduced us to the wonderful gospel side of Elvis. My fav song as far back as I can remember was Teddy Bear, promise land. While my adult years was still promise land,Bridge over troubled water, peices of my life,I want us back, way down.Just to name a few.I am obsessed with anything to do with the KING.The charisma, voice, and sex appeal can't ever be matches. This man was beautiful inside, and out.People want to say he was a drug addict, but the man was under so much stress, and has a exhausting schedule night after night The public couldn't get enough of him.Thebman was HUMAN with real feelings, and emotions. The man was the greatest entertainer the world has ever seen.Unfortumotlt he had a manager that didn't care one bit about the man,or his health. All he cared about was money.Elvis loved entertaining his fans, and always have them his all.But again he was HUMAN.He had doctor's giving him the drugs, because his manager said the only thing that mattered was that Elvis be on stage performing.Nothing else mattered.Whobare we to judge.Theres one ultimate Authority, and we are not i.Elvis passed reading the word of God,and he gave his fans his all right up to the end .He was and still is an American icon, who's music will live on forever in the hearts of his many fans.Noone will ever be better,or bigger than the KING of not only r of ck n roll, but the world .His death was devastating to his family, fans, and the world So much talent.A BEAUTIFUL SOUL GONE WAY TOO SOON TCB FOREVER .WE LOVE AND MISS YOU ELVIS AARON PRESLEY RIP KING.YOU,AND YOUR MUSIC WILL STAY IN THE HEARTS OF YOUR FANS FOR GENERATIONS TO COME YOU WERE,AND ALWAYS WILL BE THE BEST

I like this side of Elvis. It is the masculine, borderline rude, tough, sensual Elvis. It's his realism. It's totally contrary to 99% of the descriptions of Elvis we get from the "experts", and it's refreshing to see this side of him. Thanks for sharing!

This is what made Elvis so charming and appealing. He was so down-to-earth and relaxed in front of a large audience. He loved people and people loved him. He will never be forgotten. Very nice presentation.

glamygirlie , I know !!! I sure wish I could have gotten to went to one of those concerts . My aunt did get to go one time here in GA . She said , she was inches away from getting to touch him . ( So she said anyway ) . lol !! Even my husband had a chance to go twice to go to his concerts and didn't go . He says , now he really regrets that he didn't go . But my husband was in Memphis TN . when Elivs passed away . He was in the air force and had to fly out to Campbell's Air Force Base to fix a plane . While he was there he was staying with a friend of his that lived in Memphis TN . They left to go get some lunch and they heard it on the radio . Sure wish he was still here .

The way I see it is, Elvis gave so many people pleasure, with his music, he never harmed anyone, he helped many, his record producer needed a life saving operation, Elvis paid for it, he was a very generous man, who loved all of his fans, and at the end when he wasn't in great shape, as he was very ill, he still got on that stage, to please his fans, that's Elvis, and we should respect him, and if you can't say anything nice, don't say it!!!!!

Elvis never got the recognition he deserved when arranging the songs he sang, he made them better, and his Gospel music was fantastic, I love the last 2 albums with the RPO, and I have asked EPE if there's a chance of doing a Gospel album, I really hope that they do

When I saw him was in 1976 at the Anaheim stadium, he was high as a kite. But, he saved us girls from getting the security guys to kick us out. " He said, let them be man, they don't bother me, " cuz the stage was tall for us He flirted, three kisses at us and we had fun throwing back kisses. I had met him in '73 when I was 16, at Vegas . It was an accident, meeting but it was in shock. He came out from a back door of the INTERNATIONAL hotel. He almost hit me with that door, when he looked behind the door he saw me and we both said excuse me at the se time. He smiled at me and got into a blue Mercedes Benz stretch limo. His boys behind him. I just stood there in shock.

Elvis was and always will be the greatest entertainer of all time. He was a kind, generous man who loved making his fans happy. Some of those around him took advantage of his generosity. and kindness. No matter what his faults may have been, above all else he was a human being. He endured so much bad criticism throughout his life. He has the larger fan base than any other entertainer. We will always love and miss him.

People need to remember that Elvis was just a man, hugely and unbelieavably talented, but a man just the same. Millions of people abuse prescription medicine all the time, including a lot of those who criticise him for it. But when people tear him apart, it isnt because he had these addictions, they're just tryin to find cause for their hatred or dislike of him. Just be honest about it. some people love him and some people hate him, but he never did harm to anyone but himself.

I also want to add this was a very trying time for EP, emotionally that is. The recent divorce, paternity suit by Patricia Parker, the critical magazine articles, and so on. Still, while others consider this his worst performance (actually all of Autumn of '74) I consider it to be candid and telling of the real man inside the suit.

I love this clip. I understand he was drug intoxicated, but that was part of who he was. We can't change the facts. So as Elvis fans, after 37 years, whatever material we can find....appreciate it .

Stupid people who told all the bad roomers about him. Im sure they are just jealous. He was a very nice and handsome man, he is sweet and nice with a great sense of humor. I love you Elvis. You will always be the KING, no matter what!

For your information....Elvis wasn't just on drugs "here"...anytime from about 1964-65...till he died...Elvis was ON drugs. Hundreds of pills a month by the last few years. You don't just start a drug habit with 90 pills a week....that takes years and years to develop.
