The fan-favourite Swiss independent microbrand, known for its tasteful homages of classic vintage timepieces, has long been a champion of traditional watch designs. However, its latest creation - a take on a "Disco Volante" - pays homage to one of the most radical watch formats of the 20th century, which despite its roots in the Art Deco movement, remain some of the most striking and forward-thinking watch designs ever devised. Inside ticks a hand-finished manually-wound Peseux 7001 calibre, and somehow this offering is priced at US$2,780.

I love what the people at Furlan Marri have done. I am praying that they do 41mm case size as I have a 19.5cm wrist and 38mm just doesn’t cut it. Wonderful case design as always .

My first watch is 38mm and I feel like people are gravitating towards the smaller size again. 38, hell, even 36. This Furlan Marri is outta this world. When I saw the teaser, in no way did I think they'd lean this hard into the UFO theme. Well played Andrea and co. What a absolutely unique watch

I’ve been looking for one of these and the vintage ones are teeny tiny for the most part and quite costly. Although most of them are solid gold. Anyway, I’m excited about this watch however I wish they had done it in 37 to 37 1/2 mm short halfway, sort of vintage and modern.

Pretty nice. But, I'm curious how easy is it to hand wind this manual movement as the crown looks pretty inset to the side of the case?

@@khronokraze it’s easier than you think. There is def enough grip either side of the case. I would not say it’s as easy to wind as a regular crown but def not too difficult. And the flush placement of the crown in the case makes the extra effort worth it.

I love it but my collection (like 11 or so watches) is at that state where I'd rather get rid of a few and then only carefully replace pieces. But although this looks absolutely stunning and is hand wound, it couldn't replace any of the "keepers" I think. Can others relate?

Rules. Is there a rule book someone hasn’t told me about. There’s no rule that says you have to wear a watch only for a certain application. The best part about this game is the combinations and contrasts we can play with. So no. It’s not JUST. A dress watch.

But the Market does categorize every watch : Dress, Casual, Military or Field, Diver, Sport etc. It has NOTHING to do with “ Rules " I just wanted to know if this was a Dress Watch. A simple “ Yes it is " OR " No it isn't " would have sufficed.

I think with this watch, it definitely leans dressier - and Disco Volante watches generally lean dressier - but the brighter colours and lume give it a bit of a casual vibe. If you had to put it in a category, it's probably a dress watch... Just an atypical one :) -Jamie

Different strokes for different folks! I've got a pretty big wrist (7 3/4 in) and I think 38 still works, even a lugless 38 like this watch. Thankfully there's plenty of big watches out there for those of us who like a bit more wrist presence. -Jamie
