Thanks Stuart for fitting it into a small drone as it definitely proved the point that HD FPV is here for micro quads. But the 28grams ByFrost vtx n cam set only costs 64usd. Granted that vtx has 30by30 mounting holes but that could be easily be fixed by mounting the vtx to 30by30 holes on an old phone card which also has 20by20holes to line up with the FC stack. 205usd is a lot in comparison. It’s a pity you missed the price factor completely in your video.

Turn focus mode off and high quality mode on. The recording from the goggle will look MUCH better and you will have zero range issues with the areas you fly in like this giant open field lol

The only chance for byte frost to comeback is to sell standalone receiver with hdmi or analog output... but I am afraid is already to late... then I won’t have to eat my words. For sure they are working hard to come back in the race. But ever so, fartshark is not the most reactive company for patching their products. How many firmware did you received for your fartshark google? 0. There is no one firmeware update for any fatshark google.

Yep, multipath issues everywhere here, and the control link tears it - antenna, quality analog VTX, quality analog camera, xfire/r9 will run you close to the Vista, and the vista video will outshine any analog. Worth! :)

It's the cheapest of top goggles. Actually VHS goggle are more expensive than the digital. The price will not drop too much.

That's a lot of fun with three inches! I actually appreciate they expect you to solder to the pads (of course a clever pilot/maker could solder a connector to the pads to make further change-outs a snap). Around 8:45 during the flight, you can see some changing of the color temperature. Was this straight out of the CADDX or did you do any post-production on the flight video? Being a newbie to FPV (and thank you by the way, your videos have been superb with getting me moving in the right direction . . . have since learned to fly Acro mode with my Jumper T16 in DCL and Freerider) but not to drones and R/C, I wonder about whether this Caddx uses open standards, which would allow use with not only DJI gear. Haven't bought FPV goggles yet, I'm obviously eyeing those DJIs, but have also been just considering climbing the ropes using analog along the way. Thank you and happy Zombie Day!

Yes, the analog latency fix, support for diopters in the googles and now the size of the Caddx Vista have now put DJI on my shopping list. Gonna pick up a set before spring, put on an analog setup on the googles and go for it.

Hey I'm just now piecing together a set up for fpv flying. Never done it. Only flying I've done with a drone is a few years of casual camera drone stuff. I know the camera stuff doesn't help for fpv and can make it harder to learn. My question is is there any reason I shouldn't start with digital? I wasn't going to just for cost but in my position of just starting it's not that much more and it looks so my better and I'm sure I would go that route eventually.

I feel like this is a step in the right direction. For me to go out and switch to the DJI ecosystem I would want on-board recording with the smallest footprint possible and BetaFlight style osd. I would use this for a 4" long range build I'm working on so my need is very specific. I think this unit as-is would be great on normal micro qwads where it allows you to see everything clearly.

Gday Stu, I have the DJI system and a Diatone 349, which I want to put the vista into it. How did you mount the camera, can’t see any mounting screws.Also did you have to do any mods to the canopy and are they the standard height standoffs. Thanks and keep the reviews coming

Suzuki Jim not sure if you already got it to fit, but I got mine to just barely fit, along with a crossfire nano. I didn’t actually mount the camera, just pinched it into the canopy, and I’m happy to say that it doesn’t budge and also doesn’t give me jello. The canopy is flexible enough to just bend around the vista, it’ll just cause the canopy to be more susceptible to cracking in a hard crash, but honestly, I’m taking the risk. Since everything is so crammed in there, the camera stays put no problem

Without mile long supports and very tall M2 screws (which I doesn't have here anyway) bloody brick doesn't fit inside in any possible way. I already start to desperate. Camera though doesn't concern me. I have Vista Polaris with 19x19mm camera which fit in canopy just fine.

@@KrotowX i just squished it down, it’s okay for the plastic to flex around the stack, as long as you don’t overtighten anything, my pid tunings were thrown off because of the stack not having as much room to flex and had slightly more vibrations, but i was able to tune most of it out

​@@ianozborne1555 By tries an errors found that I can raise canopy by 5-6mm with few M2 washers at bottom and fasten with M2x10mm screws instead of stock screws. Vista unit - placed at top plate with two TX200U VTX screw supports cut off and tied with zip ties. Now I'm trying to figure out proper serial port and power wire lengths for Vista and Crossfire Nano receiver. Then - where to put Crossfire Immortal T antenna (connector is glued to RX board with rubber-like resin). Tie it to one of rear legs? Or between legs with a piece of foam between antenna beams and frame legs? And where to put Vista antenna. And where to put all those damn wires? Just figured out that in both T antenna placements VTX may get tied under canopy above camera. Which is the best because it would be bad to fry receiver like egg directly above Vista VTX. I will keep you updated instead of lazy Stu :D Are I'm only one who think about Vista VTX metal case as huge contact pad for ground loop in carbon frames?

DJI will also be releasing a standalone mini VTX (within 6 months) that will work with current cameras like Eagle/Predator/Etc ..Though will still require DJI googles ..at least for now ^^

I’ve got an eachine & diatone er349 on order, I had the gtr 349 , but after losing fpv signal it flew away and I couldn’t find it. That’s why I’ve got the other one. I’m sure that it was because I had it on 800 milliwatts and it overheated, so I’ll stick to no more than 200 milliwatts. But now I’m thinking that I might have to do the same modification that you have done, plus get the goggles of course.

To answer your second question, yes you have to activate the Vista using DJI Assistant 2 for FPV.

The goggle view is WAY better and the recording would look way better too if stu changed two settings. Focus mode should be off, and high quality mode should be on. The way he has it setup right now is fro long distance, not needed to fly around in a park for a big field like this.

It's still 720p60fps dvr in the goggles dvr... Still HD. turn on high quality mode and turn off focus mode and it looks fantastic in goggle dvr

I think you made a mistake. Is it not the DIATONE GT-R369 insted of the GT-R349? The GT-R349 is a squashed X and the one in your hands is a stretched X, like the GT-R369

It is 20x20. Came here to say the same thing. The outer holes aren't for mounting either, so it's only 20x20.
