Tenor saxophonist Walter Blanding has been a member of the Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra (directed by Wynton Marsalis) since 1998. One of the things that got him there was a great jazz education. Walter attended LaGuardia High School of Music and Art and the Performing Arts, followed by more study at the New School of Social Research.

I know a handful of these players, and they are all wonderful people and musicians. The trumpet player's name is Leslie Kolke, the bassist is Nate Sharp, and the drummer, Greg Williamson, is one of the best drummers I have ever had the pleasure of performing with and seeing perform on multiple occasions. What a great group!

Great job by all here, there's hope for jazz when young people embrace it! I honestly think when performance videos of kids are posted the comments should be either turned off or highly moderated. Sometimes the 2 cents from some snarky troll can really make an impact on a developing ego. Ego is essential to performance, kill it early and it's a recipe for disaster.

Lotlus miles Davis "missed notes" for days. What's your point
@Lotlus
@Lotlus 7 жыл бұрын
My point is that her attack of the notes doesn't compliment her tone. Pretty simple. Also, although Miles would miss notes it wasn't at this quantity. When he did miss notes, it was more of a crack that didn't get in the way of the creativity of his solos.

If these are seriously considered "future jazz all-stars," then I must be some sort of child prodigy. I'm guessing the students just pay stupid amounts of money for the chance to play with the greats. Someone of Walter Blanding's stature should go out and find some talented musicians instead of getting bought out. This is an insult to all musicians who pour their heart and soul out to practice to even have a tiny shot at making mediocre amounts of money, only to be torn down and ripped of their opportunity at fame by the upper class.

The only insult to musicians here is you. It's because of elitist pricks like you why our art form struggles to appeal to the younger generation. These are KIDS, they are learning, and they are having fun. Where is the insult in that? I know your comment is a year old, but man I really hopr your mentality has changed since then. Pissed me off.
