The conference was opened by HE Daphne Bergsma, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Poland. The meeting was also attended by representatives of the National Selection Commission of Judges of the Kingdom of the Netherlands: judge Esmee Heuts and Head of the LSR office Judith Schoenmakers.
During the meeting, we presented a detailed proposal to use Dutch experience to prepare and implement the reform of the judge selection system in Poland. In our opinion, the path to realizing the vision of a fairer system for selecting judges is through implementing selection standards based on scientifically verified candidate evaluation methods and entrusting this task to a specialized institution, the National Commission for the Selection of Judges.
We included a detailed "Roadmap for the reform of judicial selection" in our latest report, which was premiered during the conference. It is the result of research on judge selection processes in various countries. As a result of these analyses, we considered the reform process of the Dutch system of electing representatives of the judiciary to be particularly worth imitating.
We would like to thank the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Poland for their support, belief in the values of the Foundation and cooperation during the organization of the event, and all distinguished guests for coming! The meeting was attended by representatives of judges' associations, civic think-tanks, judges, MPs and representatives of science.
