What is amazing about this expansion idea is if/when Disney does the expansion it will not really effect operation of DCA as a whole. Some will miss Monsters Inc, but I think they will be more than happy to sacrifice it for a New Land from Disney's amazing Imagineers. And yes I support more videos like this.

I don't get to go to Disneyland very often. By chance, I was there twice last year. And you say exactly what I thought both times about the Hollywood area. I was shocked at what I immediately called "wasted space!" I wondered how Disneyland let that happen, based on their need for more of our money. Your videos are fascinating for one who never thought before of the design and infrastructure of the parks. Yes, I want to see your ideas about that area, and I would definitely watch.

There’s a plethora of opportunities Disney could utilize in Hollywood Land, and it’s going to be interesting to see how that part of the park changes in the future. I remember when you compared the size of Avengers Campus to other lands at the resort, I’d be interested to see how the size of this space stacks up against other areas 🤔

While it doesn’t match up with Avengers Campus, Pandora or something similar would be a great use of this space. I totally agree that the space is begging to be used for something else. I assume ideas have been tossed around internally what to do for many years as that corner is so lackluster compared to the rest of the park. Maybe with cancellations of Florida plans there might be a reallocation of budget investment in DCA?

When I went to DCA this year, that’s the main thing I kept marveling over… how absolutely massive Hollywood land was. Once they get that filled in with something better, DCA could be in my top 3 parks.

Great Ideas! I thought that the Expansion was voted down by the Property owners on Habor and that is why Disney moved away from that. Is it something you think would be considered again or Disney Forward only off the West side of the park only.

@@HeyBrickey & Carrie, from what I understand Disney owns the property & is still going forward with the parking lot/drop off area & the eastern gate. The bridge/skyway will be altered so that Harbor pedestrian traffic can access the bridge & the businesses on Harbor would no lose the foot traffic to & from the park. Additionally the Security Checkpoint would remain on Disney property instead of being placed at the parking structure.

I would also get rid of the redwood creek trail and put an attraction that fits the wilderness vibes because that’s a pretty big area where you can get people more excited to go to that area because that area of the park is dead mostly when grizzly river run is down in the winter and the hotel taking up that large chunk of space.

Great video on the possibilities for Hollywoodland at DCA. If only the great movie ride from DHS in Orlando could make its way to that land it would draw more guests. Maybe even a D23 exhibition in one of the vacant sound stages would help the area also. And since the monorail goes thru DCA for a little bit, it would be nice if DCA had its own monorail stop. I completely agree with you that despite the fact that the Hollywood Studios Backlot area is mostly wasted space right now, it also is the area of DCA with the most potential. I'm actually rather glad that they didn't put Avengers Campus there, because it leaves room for something much more exciting and ambitious. One idea that's been floated around is an entire Pandora: World of Avatar area, but I feel like it would be too difficult to fit thematically with Hollywood Boulevard and the Hyperion theater. A better idea, in my opinion, is to reskin one of the Hollywood Boulevard facades as Flynn's Arcade, and use it as the entrance for an elaborate transition where guests are digitized into the world of Tron. But it would be an entire indoor world of Tron where it is always night, with a reworked Lightcycle Run dueling coaster and the monorail zooming overhead.

I went back and watched this after the video you uploaded today and you sold me. I like Philharmagic and even Monsters Inc mostly so if you would have just told me we could replace those with something, I would have just been "yeah but what about...." but seeing everything spelled out and shown just how much room is there, I'm sold. Of course being a Marvel fan, I would love for them to use that to expand Avengers Campus and give us a true e-ticket Marvel ride, but I'm sure that whatever they do would be impressive. My only concern is getting rid of family rides like Philharmagic and Monsters Inc. My personal preference is to build up more e-tickets, but Disneyland's bread and butter is families. And sure there's some still there, but I don't want it to be just big e-ticket rides. Even from a personal preference standpoint, Hollywood Studios has some of my favorite rides, but there's no smaller rides there. Anyway, I'm rambling and just here to say that I'm watching this series. Especially since I really want to move back to California, and watching this whole project grow would be so much fun. For now though, I'm watching this video in one window with google maps open in another haha

I firmly believe, that when the X-Men make their debut in the MCU, the Hollywood Backlot is where they are going to go. Those arches already look the gates for a private school. The building layout is already like a school campus quad. Story wise, Prof Xavier opening a satellite campus near the Avengers campus makes sense. And they’ve already expanded the Marvel theming to the Hyperion Theater. We already know the X-Men are coming. There’s no way Imagineering isn’t already thinking about how to Integrate X-Men into the west coast parks. I think the Backlot might become Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters: West Coast Campus

Oh, and what’s the one attraction an X-Men Land will need? The Danger Room, a next gen trackless shooter ride. Combine the motion tracking from WEB Shooters with the detailed sets of Rise of the Resistance, and add the room transformations from Run Away Railway and you’ll get a real life danger room 🤞🏼It makes too much sense. I got a ideas for replacements ideas for Disney California Adventure I know this is gonna be a controversial opinion but i think closing down Muppet Vision 3-D was a big mistake because now Disneyland has no Muppets attraction but I think they should retheme the Paradise Gardens area with The Muppets The Little Mermaid attraction will stay because that is a great ride and I love it but the other attractions near it would close the Golden Zephyr will be rethemed to Pigs in Space from The Muppet Show, Jumpin Jellyfish will be Themed to Hot airballoons themed to Kermit the Frog taken from The Great Muppet Caper, Goofy's Sky School will be Rethemed to The Great Gonzo's StuntMadness and instead of a Airplanes guests will ride on the Plunger car from the Muppet Movie and the attraction takes place in The Great Gonzo's StuntShow Madness and for his 3rd act he invited you the guests on his Plunger Car the beginning of the ride you see Gonzo in his cannon being launched in the sky and then your car jumps though a Fire hoop (Which is not a fire Hoop it's just a hoop painted orange but it glows in the Dark at Night), a circular Saw, and at the end you see Gonzo on his Motorcycle in a slingshow and at the end he crashing himself and the motorcycle on the Stunt show Building and you see his cutout and his Motorcycle on the Building which is a tribute Muppet Vision 3-D and then at the end you unload from the vehicle and exit safety. The pizza place near by will be rethemed to PizzaRizzo from Disney World, and lastly The Silly Symphony Swings will be rethemed to the Electric Mayhem and will be titled The Eletric Mayhem: RockSwings my 2nd other idea is Paradise Gardens attractions like Goofy's Sky School, Golden Zephyr, Jumpin Jellyfish, and Silly Symphony Swings will be demolished for a FreeGuy Land the Land will take place in FreeCity from the Film and the main ride will take rider on a adventure through FreeCity and the attraction will use the same Ride system technology from The Simpsons Ride at Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida but instead of Rollercoaster vehicles its the Car that Ryan Reynolds drives in the film the land will contain the Coffee shop and Bubble Gum ice cream stand as seen from the film and the land will sell the Blue Lightsaber and Captain America Shield seen from the film also ok now my 3rd idea is The SunSet Showcase Theatre featuring Mickey's Philharmagic and Stage 17 will be demolished for a ride based on Zootopia the ride will use the same ride system technology used in Despicable Me Minion Mayhem at Universal Studios Hollywood and Florida or my other idea is Muppet Vision 3-D will come back with a new Entrance

Well done brickey. I agree, there's so many possibilities for all that space. Measuring the area on google earth of half the bus area and the backlot it's about 7 acres which is huge. I would love to see more videos on expansion ideas/eastern gateway etc.

That Backlot area should have been revamped yrs ago, if not right after the park first opened in 2001. It has always looked like something out of a Six Flags park, if not a discount outlet mall in a place like Barstow. Disney has spent hundreds of millions of $ on their failed Star-Wars-themed hotel in Orlando, & just about nothing on DCA's Hollywood Backlot. An area themed to a warehouse.

I definitely love the idea of reimagining that entire area and making a new land. Possibly to expand on Pixar or Marvel or even Pandora as you mentioned. I also think that Ariel's ride should be swapped with Buzz Lightyear's ride in DL. To me, it just doesn't make sense to have Ariel in DCA. It feels out of place. I also think the trails near Grizzly River Run could be retheamed as well.

I think they should keep Hollywoodland. Get rid of Goofy’s Sky School and build a Monster’s Inc. ride there - then in Hollywoodland, build a new Great Movie Ride with all the space Monster’s and the soundstages take up - Disney owns Fox, so now they have an additional library of films to pull from without needing to license them. A huge animatronic attraction with the latest animatronics. And make the ride a little more zippy, not as slow (or have it change speeds)
