Artificial intelligence in games is a pretty cool thing, as well as mesh shaders and path tracing, but where can you get a gpu with enough vram for decent money?

They think about this to much in terms of quests and pre written stories. With this tech, i'm much more interested in simulation/sandbox games. Think of those minecraft civilization videos but instead of being composed of human players, it could be these AI-driven NPCs! Altera did something like that, with their agents simulating a civilization! Or maybe think of simulating a small town where each citizen in an AI NPC. Something like the Sims but with better npcs, capable of understanding language, making plans and executing them. An NPC with an art focused goal given to it when created could plan on how to achive that goal. Maybe it takes the iniciative and buys art supplies, or art books! Then all characters around them would also be ai driven, with the interactions between them creating interesting emergent senarios!

Go ahead and play games where only a few NPCs are well-designed, and all the rest are primitive, identical dummies. I'd rather play a game where every NPC is capable of being a full-fledged character under the control of AI.
