"The Future of Learning" Nobel Prize Series Conference - Singapore

A unique constellation of Nobel Laureates, world-leading experts and key opinion leaders meet participants face-to-face and online for a day of discussions at Nanyang Technological University Singapore. The doors are open to anyone, scientist or not. It is a dialogue for connection and knowledge sharing about the latest thinking and trends that will impact the future of learning in the 21st century. Participating Nobel Laureates are Ada Yonath (Chemistry, 2009), Sir Harold Walter Kroto (Chemistry, 1996), Stefan Hell (Chemistry, 2014) and Wole Soyinka (Literature, 1986), as well as Sir James Mirrlees (Economic Sciences Laureate, 1996).

There is an exuberant focus on equality, but no focus on balance. The university system may benefit from more focus on students with more physical capacity to focus study on physical pursuits. Studying martial arts for example. This has been the preview of the military, but why not make it a major. This major could be academically rigorous and require a certain number of music, or physics credits, possibly anatomy etc and certain career paths would be open to these students. Universities who implemented these programs might also see improvements to their sports programs and coaching staff.

In the sense that how often do you use advanced mathematics in the real world? Apart from basic algebra to add up your tax returns, there isn’t much use for calculus for 99% of people who don’t use mathematics in their primary work
