A question for those who support the modern interpretation of the references, in Sura Isra, to two times when the Bani Israil suffered a defeat: if these refer to defeats suffered by Bani Israil at the hands of the Muslims, then how do we interpret the intervening verse "Then We gave you once again, a return of victory over them. Even if they are being oppressed you only go and help if they ask for help. So islamically, the mughal empire shouldn't have gone and ruled over india. Islam is the only religion with rules of war, one rule is to leave alone buildings of worship. So islamically turkey had no right to convert it into a mosque. I.Hossein isn't the only scholar who takes this stance, there are many others too.
