Awesome review! This is a really impressive unit! And the awesome thing about CMOS-based digital night vision is that they are basically immune to bright lights and do not wear out with use. I just finished my review on the ADNV-G14P2 as well; really looking forward to seeing your tests of the unit too!

I honestly dont have a reason to replace my nvg30s yet. If this new digi had color it might have peaked my interest. Black and white makes things pretty difficult at times to distinguish objects from time to time.

You might want to go with thermal instead. Thermal is rapidly rendering nvgs obsolete.

You should compare these with the new night operators fusion 3.0 and nvg30s! I’m curious if you’d be able to catch a ball from around 10 feet away due to latency. Also compare the BTI-10 thermal with the thermal that’s also built into the night operators fusion 3.0 would be a cool versus for budget helmet mounted thermals!

I did mention that battery life is an advantage that the pvs14 has over this digital unit. Motion blur is very minimal. I am working on a much more in depth comparison that will highlight the pros and cons of these devices and will also be using the phone to record both devices to make that comparison as fair as possible.

I fully understand the cost of thermal and paid it and utilize it. But for that extreme cost of good night visiom I just don't believe I need it. I'm not military I'm not clearing dark buildings so price point was the only thing that could really convince me otherwise.

@@Exod365 Clearing buildings is the least thing why you need expensive night vision. And in which world is Night Vision an extreme cost factor in comparison to thermal? It way way cheaper. Why is it such a big deal to look at used devices? I bought 5x Gen2+ units for 200 - 700 bucks each.

I do search and rescue,just be in mind the helicopter with extraordinarily expensive thermal gear and highly skilled operator flew over a missing person twice while on snow but were found by the mk1 eye ball. The helicopter in question is a hmcg Sikorsky s92a, thermal is good but it most definitely has limitations as we have found out the hard way

Just to clarify- the 940nm is outside of the visible light range for naked eye... ie you cannot see the illuminator ( red light ) when using the IR. Is that correct?

Unfortunately, they're lying about being a small shop. They're just reselling DL-31s from China. Worse still, they have a significant markup. Performance isn't amazing either, since the units use off the shelf IMX385s, which you can get for around 100 USD pretty easily.

@ Gotcha, I just looked through all the packaging contents again just to be sure and the only accessories I have are the two batteries the charger, 2 cables, and battery extension cap. No mount of any kind in the packaging contents. Additionally the manual doesn’t have a dovetail mount listed in the contents. By dovetail mount, are you referring to the threaded hole behind the IR illuminator?

going to see no moon no IR performance. every time i went shooting with my sionyx it was zero moon and it was useless without IR. also really want to see this against a mil spec gen3. gen 2 is already way out dated and almost matched by sionyx.

Testing with no moon in the country under heavy tree cover will show how close digital is getting. Milky Way shots would be nice too. Be interested to know the specs of your gen2+… photonis or other. A secondhand gen3 from the last decade would be a better benchmark.

I haven't tested gen 3 personally but what I have seen so far is very impressive. I'm going to be doing a more in depth comparison with a bunch of different devices (OPSIN, Gen 2+ PVS14, NVG30, ADNV G14P2, PVS69, NVG10, NVG40, Nightfox Prowl, NightOperators Max2) together in a low light room and then ranking them all in a tier list style video.

@@UrbanSurvivor Digital outperformed Gen3 already 10 years ago. Low light performance wise! Every other point goes to analog night vision. Also don't forget. ADNVs lens is only 20mm wide. PVS-14 lenses are 27mm. So you get way less light in. But it's still on par with gen3. But low light performance is not why we use analog night vision. It's the real time image intensification. Pure chemistry and physics.

I’m in no way shape or form saying this is gen.3 PVS14 quality but just because something is made in China doesn’t automatically mean it’s trash.China is fully capable of making quality products and they do.Chinese products get a bad name for the cheap sh*t they produce but they make that cheap sh*t because they have a large market for that cheap sh*t..if you don’t want to buy Chinese products due to political reasons,that’s fine but to automatically think China isn’t capable of making quality products is asinine.I’m not even speaking on this particular nv device.with that being said,I have no personal experience with it so I really can’t speak on that

U.S. civilian market needs to stop funding China's night vision and optic R&D and manufacturing programs. Buy American or from a country that is not preparing to go to war with us and support our R&D and manufacturing infrastructure. The USA makes the best night vision products hands down

I am sure the Harris government and ATF will love an NVG licencing act and a $2000 tax stamp 'to pay for the enforcement'. If the US manufacturers lowers their prices, no one in US will buy Chinese. The R&D cost for Gen2 and Gen3 has already been paid for by DOD contracts decades ago, so it cost much less to make US NVG than this Chinese company, who is still doing R&D to reinvent the wheel using digital tech.
