Oblivion is my favourite coaster at the park and probably my favourite coaster of all time, so I’d be heartbroken if it was removed. They should re-track it just like they did for Nemesis, but if they wanted to add an optional car that lets you ride it backwards it wouldn’t hurt. I still like the aesthetic, but it would definitely be improved by having the “don’t look down” sound effect.

I was going to say Oblivion is too iconic to remove but then I remembered the fate of the corkscrew. Oblivion is genuinely an icon of the park. The soundtrack, lift hill and brake release at the top of the drop are all iconic in sound alone. I think losing that would be a bad idea. Maybe an extended layout could work, but a re-track seems the most logical.

I would love if they kept the ride pretty much as it is up until you come out of the tunnel. Instead of going left and back into the station, you keep going into a brand new section of the ride, maybe even with a new world first feature since Oblivion’s claim of a vertical drop wasn’t fully fulfilled. Call it something like Oblivion’s Ascension since you’re ascending out of the tunnel into what is basically a new ride from that point.

Floorless coaster definitely. Could even convert it to a standing car too. Drop to JUST beyond vertical, tunnel stays the same but instead of exiting coming up & out into the brake run, it shoots off into a covered airtime hill, and out and into a couple of hidden inversions, just out the back of the Smiler shop, a couple of small airtime hills and maybe some new theming elements that play into the area… and then build around & hide the brake run from sight… so it looks like Oblivion sends everyone through this hole in the ground, and they’re not seen from the paths as having exited out from the drop? Retracking the ride under the tunnel will be tricky, but if maintained & repainted, they should be able to do similar to what they did to Nemesis’ lift hill……

Nemesis & Oblivion were what made Alton Towers' heyday! Yes, the corkscrew put them on the map but these two 👌 when Tussauds knew how to run the park. I agree you can't keep retracting all coasters. But I think you can with these two.

It'll be there as it is for another 5 years or so. There is very little stress on the track and supports unlike Nemesis. They will be thinking about what they do with it soon, so the video is timed well.

The world's first B&M dive launched coaster! It'll keep it's original drop through the tunnel and after that an inversion then it could launch you fast enough to launch you through a few more inversions before the ride ends just to extend the layout.

I too agree that they should not get into the habit of retracking old rides in favour of replacing them with new ones. It works for Nemmy because that is still a great invert to this day and can still compete with modern ones so it is great to have sticking around. However Oblivion, being the prototype dive coaster, is a one trick pony and looks very dated compared to new ones which are much longer, actually vertical and have multiple elements (even two drops!)

its a great ride it wouldnt add much by adding a loop or something and the space would cost too much to landscape back into a flat terrain. rebirth it, new theme, relatively little cost. only retrack if it needs it.

as much as I love/loved Blivvy, I think they should just ditch it now. it's very much a product of its time. I have a lot of nostalgic connection with it, rode it when I was about 13 years old back in 2000 or 2001. however, I wouldn't miss it if it was gone. you need to look into the future.

It couldn’t go where oblivion is, most likely on the back car park but we need an RMC in this country and before universal comes to Bedford, Towers has to think about not just retaining guests but attracting more to the park and I think and RMC that is below the tree line but has a lot of elements would be a perfect addition. Doubt we’ll ever get an RMC in this country though 😢
