I think as the former colonial power of Syria which holds a huge responsibility to transfer the govermental power on extremist minorities France should refrain himself to talk or lecture anyone. Know your place and zip it. Either for Syria or Palestine.

That's why they've invited a foreign minister from a nation that they're allied with. It's one of the things taught in journalism, if you want to promote an unethical or unpopular idea you just interview 3rd parties that you know will hold and promote that idea, this way the journalist is not the direct responsable of promoting those ideas but the interviewed party.
