Good choice. I have 2 daughters in their late 20’s. I advise them not to have kids and just pursue their dreams without the added responsibility of another human being. Welcome back in the states Jay & Jen. Living here in US for 20 yrs, I love it. It’s comfortable and has lots of nature, parks to enjoy. I like Philippines as my vacation destination, as I have a house in the province and a condo in Q.C. I’m currently paying a condo in park McKinley 2026 turnover. Life is good here in US, depending on how you live it.

It was easy to come here in the US as tourist than under spousal visa. Jenny, start working as a Nurse in the Philippines so it will be easier for you to work as Nurse here in the US after you pass the exam here as well. We need Nurses in the US. Goodluck to you both. Congrats Jay and Jenny, I know it is not easy sharing your life and I have seen the growth of your relationship during the year. It seems both of you are happy and I don’t think you will miss a beat living in California. My advice is Jenny will need to learn how to drive a car unless you live in the city. Since the immigration process might take a year, I would start to look for work in the States to help with settling down on where you want to live. Was in a similar situation where I was able to find a place to stay instead of living with my parents/relatives.

This vlog was very close to my partner and I's experience and current life. She and I going through the i-130 process (filed in August) and will be starting from scratch (we'll be DINK) and she'll be rebooting her career in the states. We got married in the Philippines but we didn't go through the usual process. Similar to Jay, I work in big tech and looking for a higher paying job to support a new family :). Excited to hear updates from yall.

Congratulations! I can understand your desire to keep some things private. A marriage proposal seems more special to me when it occurs as a private moment between two people. It seems more solemn and sincere without an audience or showy presentation. In the United States, I have never understood how someone can think that putting a marriage proposal on an electronic announcement board at a sports event is an appropriate way to do it.

For long-term, yup, I think we both really want to stay here and continue living in the Philippines. With that said, since Jenny has never visited the states before and never seen that part of the world (where I grew up), we both agreed that now is probably as good a time as any to give her that new experience. Hopefully it'll help both of us grow and remind us to appreciate the Philippines even more. Not sure how long we'll stay for at this time but since we're out there, I figured I might as well try to get a job and earn some good income too. Cheers!

you should have been making money before thinking of marriage. If you're a man and not making at least 100k a year, don't even think of getting married. Moving back to California? I'd say NO! economy is only going to get worse, SF, LA, SD are all poverty stricken and emptied out. Businesses are moving out of CA. If you could have been making money in CA why couldn't you have continued that in Manila? you should have continued working from home.
