Simon, you and Eryn are producing some astonishingly good videos. I reckon as a result of seeing them a lot of people are going to move a few steps closer to fulfilling their dream of a life on the sea in a timeless, living wooden boat. These videos should have hundreds of thousands of views, but I've noticed that KZbin's bland-harvesting machinery has never recommended them to me. Ah well, I sometimes think that NOT being welcomed into 'the club' (in any walk of life) is a thousand times better than being entirely acceptable to the vacuous mainstream suits and their pasta machine ambitions for the human race. I just discovered this channel. Who’s the Geordie. I lived in Newcastle for 3 years (yank here) and loved my time there. I miss the accent and certainly miss the people. I sense that a few people have missed your wordplay: gaff versus gaffer. Boat and captain had a trim. Great job. Great result. As a younger older man with beard, I'd add, trim beard and mustache to, say, 6mm. At the start of a longer haul. So if you regret it, you can stay in hiding for a bit.

If that was my sailboat, I would buy a 50 gallon drum of expoxy resin, & buy a large roll of the yellow 8 oz kevlar cloth. I would sand the entire hull. Saturate the entire hull with epoxy resin, & fillet any bad areas with epoxy filler. Then I would cover the entire hull in kevlar cloth. You would never ever have to worry about something hitting your hull or rubbing on it. I would also cap the entire leading edge of the keel with a strip of titanium plate, because it's light & very hard, strong, & doesn't rust. You would never have to worry about scraping on shallow reef. Your hull would be sealed & never leak again ever. It would be litterally be bullet proof.

I've really been enjoying your video series! Thank you for putting so much time and effort into it! I'd be interested in how you feel the design's history - the place it was designed for affects it's "cruise-ability". Here in Vancouver, we have very light winds, and a boat was recently imported here from Holland. It is super heavily built for shallow sea, steep waves, and extremely high winds; and she sails like a brick in Vancouver's very very light winds. How has Narvhal's history affected her sailing in other climates?

A boat can be heavy, but if you have larger sails... well then you'll go just as fast as other lighter boats. Narhval has a huge headsail (Genoa) and a huge mainsail. I'd be keen to get a top sail going too :-)
