Sadly the galacticos era was unsatisfactory but happy to see all these Legends have played for this club.

If this team had just kept Makalele , signed Nesta and another central defender then who knows what would have happened. Whats crazy is that not only did they not need Beckham, they didn't really need R9 either. I know some will attack me for saying so but a stronger defense would have allowed them to dominate for a longer time.

Great video! Just what I was looking for about the Galacticos. It's gonna be interesting how PSG will do with their recent transfer window. Like you mentioned with the Galacticos, I wonder how PSG will handle the pressure not only that but the drama of Mbappe wanting to go to Real Madrid after this season. Exciting season ahead.

In 05/06 Real Madrid didnt reach the semis of the UCL, they lost to Arsenal in the last 16 of the UCL. Infact they crashed out of the UCL in the last 16 on 6 consecutive occasions. Arsenal have since beaten that record by crashing out of the last 16 of the UCL, 7 seasons in a row.

Really appreciate how thorough you were with RM's history and in finding footage/photos of past events. Probably nitpicking here but I would have appreciated two more things: 1. An infographic or table of how much was spent on each player and the total amount either per season or during the Galaticos Era as a whole. 2. An infographic of an RM XI side or depth chart showing which positions or roles were Galaticos purchases. (I already do agree they put too much attention attacking players and overlooked the defense especially letting go of Makélélé.) Great work nonetheless :)

To be fair, there was some success for Real between 2000 and 2006-7, but it’s also true that they just were not the #1 club in the world like most people expected them to be. If it was up to me, I would’ve definitely made different transfer decisions and kept Del Bosque around for a long time because he was a great manager. They won that last CL there in 2002 when Zidane scored his wonder goal against Leverkusen. They were pretty much on the right track at that point.

Failure of Galacticos is another example that money not gonna buy you trophies and success. It was funny to watch Galacticos Real playing without any defense whatsoever. Squad of attacking egos. Squads full of superstars are never successful or impactful in football history. Same applies to other sports and even in music (when great musicians come together to form one band they dont last long and never a success).

I remember seeing them being so attack heavy. They came up with that slogan ‘you score 3 we’ll score 4’ to combat it.

Galacticos Era was a double edged sword. It turned Real Madrid from a debt ridden club on a verge of bankruptcy into the richest club in the world with a fortune to last until the end of the world. But the squad (especially after makelele left) looked OP on paper, but actually somewhat nightmarish with no balance between offense & defense. Hence why Real Madrid severely underperformed and barely won titles, and even more disappointing considering the money wasted purchasing luxury players. The squad balance in CR7 era was A LOT Better, and so Real Madrid was able to win so many titles & championships. Oh, Zidane being appointed coach helped a lot too

2002-2003 had scary squad, and after defeating United I thought European football would be dominated by this Madrid, at least 2 UCLs for the next 4 seasons. Next season, Beckham came in, and the rest is history. From england&United fan.

Never got the hype around Beckham, the guy has chased money and publicity at every nook and corner of his career. Was a decent crosser of the ball and a spot kick specialist. That’s all.
@iganpparamarta8813 Жыл бұрын
@@rishabhaniket1952 Exactly! That's why they didn't meet the expectation. Well balanced teams like Juve and Milan then were far better. Beckham fit best at United up until 2002, he used to run, press, tackle. He wasn't great but he did his job. When CR7 took his jersey I was like "who's this kid?" haha not until he scored a brace vs a strong Arsenal in 2005 that my love for him started to grow.

Manager... They never had any permanent manager at all. The players were all confused to what style of football to play. The team was good enough to rule Europe but with no proper long-term manager, the team could never bring out their best. Like Mourinho said "a manager's work is to train the players how to play in that particular team under a particular style"

@@wasalawyer.6771 no, with the amount spent, it is a failure. The selling of Makelele says about the club. With winning, they want glamour/publicity which in turn they have no second guesses if they want to replace underrated players with star-named players. The president manages Real Madrid like playing Fifa. Casual fans gravitate towards team with star name players while fans who know the game know that underrated players are key contributors in big matches to win big titles. There's no wrong in buying star named players but if something ain't broke don't fix it.
