I finished this game as a 12 year old 1992 out of sheer hatred for the game. I memorised every little jump from thousands of restartrs and playthroughs. One of the only couple of dozen games I had finished by that age. I still remember the 8 bit theme tune, the little jump sounds, the sounds when you get hit etc. - and I haven't played it in 30 years!

Thank you for not cheating, as seeing your frustration, confusion, and pain at having to repeat the first level(s) multiple times was cathartic. Although the show had been out for a few years by the release of the game, it looks like most of the references to the show were based upon the first season. The boss at the end of the mall level was the Babysitter Bandit from the first seasons last episode, Some Enchanted Evening. The concept of beating Sideshow Bob by jumping on his feet comes from season one's Krusty gets Busted. Jebediah Springfield's statue talking to you, and later being a collectable head comes from The Telltale Head from, you guessed it, season one. The museum boss is Marvin Munroe who, outside of a few bit parts, doesn't appear outside of season one also. The Space Mutants in the game don't even look like the Space Mutants in the show because their first big main appearance comes from the first Treehouse of Horror episode in season 2. Looks like the mini boss in the mall level is Mad About Shoe, though.
@Luni25
@Luni25 Күн бұрын
You’re confusing Kang and Kudos with the Space Mutants. The Space Mutants in the series is a series of low budget Sci-Fi/horror movies, and the 4th entry is even seen in the theater from the same episode where Bart cut the head off the Jeb Springfield statue. That said, these aliens in this game don’t match the Space Mutants from the movie (but there is a quick reference right at the start of the game, as Bart passes by the theater!)

a tremendous amount of time was put into making this game. it's chock full of unique systems. Can't believe how smooth the scene transitions render, particularly the ones where Bart falls into a new scene in a single frame. Those airpipes usually cost me 8-9 lives in a row, game over and I had to redo the game about fifteen times before getting the hang of it. Very fulfilling to finally beat the game. Another game I beat that nobody else had patience with was Days of Thunder, but only cause I loved the movie. That gave me strength to endure.

GREAT JOB! If you're looking for suggestions, Battletoads & Double Dragon was the hardest NES game I've ever played, and I beat the original Battletoads as a kid (once).

This game was infuriating as kid. I tried SO hard to work out what the fuck was going on but, never got passed the first level. You're a saint for doing this. Eat my shorts.

Captain Skyhawk was a tough one on NES along with the Ikari Warriors NES port. You’ve beaten a lot of the other ones I never could as a kid!

I had a Master System as a kid, but borrowed an NES for a while. This game was a nightmare. We had a game magazine with a very thorough walkthrough, but even then we could barely beat level one.

I think I made it to the magic wands once when I was a kid. This was the first Simpsons game I ever got to play and it was a lesson about licensed games for sure.

I always died to the big dinosaur EVERY SINGLE TIME! I had no idea those black lines were platforms you could jump on. Who would have thought black lines blending into the background would be platforms!#@?!

Great concept for a video. I know I personally had a lot of trouble with Megaman Zero 2 for the GBA (its tough)
