The Game of Swords

These two swords happened to be found in the nearby mountain area where Austro-Hungarians, Germans fought with Russians, Romanians in 1916-1917.
We have been there many times and each time we uncovered WW relics that confirmed the written stories about those days.
And this day was even better because we found 2 Austro Hungarian short swords M1915, pioneer sword. These swords were used mostly as a machete to cut the trees and branches when were setting the camping base. Also interesting finds those cannon shells the POLTE Magdebourg, the manufacturing started late 1800's and used in World War 1 by the Austro-Hungarian and German Armies.

The scabbard is for the Austro-Hungarian Werndl bayonet, not for the Chassepot.

It is indeed but they copied the French model Chassepot and look almost identical.

I could only imagine just to think how lucky you are to find this stuff from our past it's unbelievable. I sure wished I had one of them big cannon shells would make some really cool trench art in which my grandfather had showed me how to make he is a WW2 vet with lots of great story's to tell
