Jon has gone out on an errand and Garfield and Odie are home alone with a dish full of spare ribs and instructions not to touch them under any circumstances. But of course Garfield immediately wolfs them down, telling Odie to get lost so he doesn’t have to share. In the meantime, Odie finds a bone out in the garden. But not just any old bone; it’s a real dinosaur bone! Garfield thinks this discovery will make them rich, and heads off to the city museum to collect his reward. He’s right in that a good dinosaur bone is worth its weight in gold. But then he finds out that the world of science makes no bones about digging up the rest of the skeleton... even if it means completely destroying Jon's house!
