I liked the sideboard walkthrough here... I wouldn't mind seeing CGB brew stuff in his vids while he walks us through his thought process, even if it is only done on occasion. One of the things I like most about CGB is that he often stops to explain little things to us "lesser mortals" who might not be entirely familiar with every aspect of the game/meta.

I play a similar deck but with Golos instead of Kenrith, Realm-Cloaked Giant instead of Planar Cleansing and one Fae of Wishes. Almost every win I get is thanks to the fae bringing Jayce from the sideboard. Slow but fun deck!

What an interesting idea for a deck. Using the Gates package as a value engine is a neat idea for a Fires of Invention deck. I would worry about not having a high threat density, but the Granted adventure on Fae of Wishes, combined with enough draw power to get it rather consistently, might make up for it. Sounds awesome.

There's another good sideboarding option. Archway Angel for massive lifegain in the late game. Also Glaive of the Guildpact and maybe even Hydroid Crasis. I realy enjoyed this video. Your comments on the decks strategy were really helpful. Get better soon CGB. That beany sucks. :D

@@GeelsProduction I'll consider you are playing dumb and will answer it nicelly: You don't need the shock lands, in fact the deck plays around Guild Gates if you haven't noticed and you can do just fine with the shock ones you get for free. Speaking of free cards, you get a lot of powerful cards for free that you can use to replace the sideboard in fact fae of wishes was a later addition. You don't need fires or Kenrith, use Gate Colossus instead: Uncommon. Is that enough budget for you? I guess that anyone can see that the core of the deck is Guild Summit and the gates. I mean, literally anyone.

@@raphaelvsantos fact: you said it was budget, I pointed out it used a lot of rares. I wasn't playing dumb in any way. I guess cutting the shocklands wouldn't hurt the deck so much and would definitely lower the rare count, but removing key cards like Kenrith and fires would completely change the deck. Fires of invention is mana fixing and allows so many plays where you would normally not have the right colors. Kenrith allows some one turn kill combos based on the 2 activated abilities. Gate colossus is just a big boy that doesn't do much on it's own.

@@GeelsProduction so could I do with with Wilderness Reclamation and Expansion/Explosion, but the deck is Gates not Reclamation or Fires. Those cards were added on top of the Gates deck, and that's it. The deck itself is a budget one, CGB took it and refined it, but if we are going to talk about refinement, you can do it a thousand different ways

I've been playing something like this when I'm not dodging 500g quests. The big difference is I play less creatures, play mainboard teferi instead of fires and my wishboard has more jaces + spyglasses. I know OuaT is too good for standard but I sorely miss that card.

I didn't notice any difference in Audio to "CGB classic" so not sure what changed to provide an opinion. I like the deck though, and it explains why I've gone against several Gate decks in ladder in the past few days after having not seen any gate decks for months.

Is there any particular reason as to why Kenrith gives haste and trample to all creatures, including the ones of your opponent, instead of just your own creatures given that your opponent cannot make use of the extra abilities anyway? Seems like such a weird card design or maybe there is some super hidden secret strategy in some format that I'm just not aware of.

In Commander/EDH free for all, you can use that Kenrith's ability to give an opponent's creatures trample and haste to curry favor from them and put them against each other.
