The Beyoncé comments really gave like straight white male that can’t understand any other culture on why someone is so popular like it was really disappointing to hear you say that because it’s not even a criticism it’s just hating on the music taste people have as if yours is better when it’s objectively not And to be honest, I don’t even listen to her like that anymore. I think the last time I really listened to her was whenever lemonade came out, but as a black woman, I see this huge disconnect and lack of understanding you have on why she is so significant within the culture. That’s like saying Michael Jackson, or prince is trash because they were also mega or Madonna for example. You’re simply being a contrarian because you dislike something that is the most popular not because you actually have a valid criticism. Not to mention, I realized I haven’t watched this channel in particular in a long time. I don’t remember the same music snob. I am better than you, because I know more obscure artist, but will turn on them if they get any sort of popularity that you gave in this video in your previous videos it makes me wonder why I even subscribed Like for another example, you call the artist like Mitski or Fiona, apple cookie cutter, artist for your female manipulator archetype, but you do realize these are not very popular artists like these are not main stream artists at least not anymore if they were at one point. I think that your perception of music is , very narrow, minded and especially understanding about the history of music compared to other creators like Todd in the shadows, Fantano, or the rap critic , honest, Zach Campbell is incredibly lacking. Hell even a dose of Buckley. Honestly, there are a lot of people I could name here, but I’m sure most of them you don’t even know who they are. it gives very much I’m young and I think that because I like super random obscure stuff and I may be connected to the DIY scene then I am better, and I have better tastes, and I just know more when you’ve made it so clear for this video, you quite literally do not And honestly knowing that there is so much music, especially I don’t wanna say, just music in general, because Black people made a lot of the genres of music in general but I know for a fact there’s so much music that you don’t know about that is influenced some of the artist, you’ve kind of shot on in this video it really gives a lack of actually liking music and history of music and just I know it’s cool and popular now because I have better taste than everyone

25:23 So i was a little "gay girl you knew in highschool" hm, even though nowadays i'm more of transmasc kinda emo My Chemical Romance is transmasculine coded sometimes, there's a lot of fans who comes out as FtM, i also get some trans vibes from P!ATD. I'm surprised that Mother Mother isn't closer to trans spectrum, there's a lot of songs that talk about body.
@ashisburning7786Ай бұрын
YES P!ATD AND MCR HAVE THE MOST TRANSMASC FANS (and mother mother is obvious trans territory)

People aren’t saying Chappell Roan is the new Madonna?? If anything they’re comparing her to Cyndi Lauper (which I still don’t agree with bc comparing artist like this is dumb and they have different vibes) . I don’t know where in the world you’ve heard Madonna.
@ashisburning7786Ай бұрын
Either way I don’t understand why he only cared about that stuff when talking about Chappell and didn’t acknowledge any of her musical talent or the fact that she has essentially brought gay (Particularly lesbian/drag queen) pop into the mainstream, along with having songs that trans, cis, gay, bi, etc queer people can relate to.
@nikibronson133Ай бұрын
@@ashisburning7786 well, I don’t know about bringing it into the main stream. It is it has existed in the main stream long before Chappell Roan has been around matter-of-fact honestly before she was even born. I am a 25-year-old zoomer myself but people kind of forget RuPaul was a recording artist and was massive, and then more importantly won RuPaul’s drag race started that’s what brought drag culture into the main stream. It’s won several Emmys in fact. But everything else I totally agree with what you’re saying. It’s like this weird heat and it’s completely discounting that she herself is a lesbian so she’s not pandering to anyone she’s just being herself and she’s been having the drag persona at least for six years so that’s a long time to grift if you are just grifting and pandering. I said it in another comment, but this very much gave white male snob that because they like the DIY alternative hard-core seen that specific genre of alternative and because they are in a minority of music fans that makes them superior and more intelligent than others and it doesn’t and I like DIY hard-core stuff I don’t listen to chappel, but I am a music fan in general and you come across a lot of snobs like this.
@ashisburning7786Ай бұрын
@@nikibronson133 I am a huge RuPaul fan, so I completely understand what you’re saying. As queer people we owe so much to Ru and the queens on the show for making drag mainstream. I guess I was more particularly talking about Chappell’s participation in making sapphic pop as mainstream as it is now, obviously there have been queer artists for decades including sapphic artists, but Chappell has reached a level of popularity where people who usually would not even think about listening to fem gay pop (especially by a cis woman drag queen) are listening to her songs because they want to see if the songs were worth the hype (and they are). Overall I just think she has influenced a lot of cis straight people’s ideas of gay people, trans people, and drag queens for the positive. Also I agree with everything you said about the uploader. I wish he just stuck with trying to make it funny (and maybe some lighthearted roasts), not at actually saying rude things about people/peoples fans.

Wait, you forgot the Gay gifted burnout who played a woodwind in high school: black midi (a bit gay, very cis) Mr. Bungle (very straight, a bit trans) Oingo Boingo (very gay, a bit trans) Primus (a bit gay, a bit trans) Will Wood (very gay, very trans) King Crimson (a bit straight, very cis) Okay stereotyping aside, it's kinda funny how, as a queer person, you're judged both for listening to something stereotypical (like Mother Mother) and for listening to something with a primarily cishet audience (like Injury Reserve). You can never win as a marginalized person lol
